Best of the best and a great place to start
After "Road Rage" had been in my CD player for only a year, I drove five hours to hear this Newfoundland band open for another group I cared nothing for - and I have to say that the recording very accurately reflects the excitement and energy of this racously fun band. This album was my first exposure to the magnificent Great Big Sea, and while I've enjoyed their other recordings, they've yet to top this.

Most of the album is taken up with exuberant, fast, traditional drinking songs and chanties, but interspersed are tender love ballads ("Boston and St. Johns") and humorous but thoughtful commentaries on life ("Consequence Free"). This is one of my favorite finds of the past five years; unless your ears are easily burned by slightly earthy/dark humor, I can't recommend it highly enough!.


Great Big Sea keeps "Goin' Up"!!
This by far is the best "greatest hit" compilations of all time. It will be no "Ordinary Day" when you pop this CD into your stereo. . . not only is it composed of GBS's fan favorites, but they are performed live! Seriously, what could be better?? If you don't already own the other 5 albums, this would be a wonderful place to start. Sean, Alan, Bob,and Darrell are among the best talent to come out of Canada. If you have had the pleasure of seeing them in concert, you will appreciate having a piece of that in your own stereo. If you haven't seen them, you will be able to experience the for yourself the greatness of GBS! This includes, Fast as I Can, Old Black Rum, Consiquence Free, and Patty Muprhy.


GBS Live All The Time

Now, with Road Rage, you can experience a little tast of the heaven that is GBS' live performances at home, or on the road. When people rant and roar about just how great Great Big Sea is, they invariably mention live performances.

This disc includes all the best crowd pleasers such as Mari-Mac. In reality all of the songs on this disc are crowd pleasers, and surely will be as welcome in your living room as they are in concert.
