the 'hi and mighty' 2CD import set on hi records uk is the one to get -- 37 great tracks. don't get me wrong -- any al is good al, but 'greatest hits' comes up short (again) -- even with the extra tracks. it uses the original masters and the sound is much better than 'greatest hits. ' you get almost all of green's best tracks in one package. i do, however, like the cover photo on this one -- it's a classic. and if you have a dvd-audio player, definitely get the dvd-audio version with 5. 1 surround -- it sounds great. .
Excellent Soul Album!
I decided to actually really listen to him closely and found that I really liked most of his stuff. He's really good at what he does,and obviously still gets praised for it. It's nice easy going, and a nice alternative to sam cooke and marvin gaye. Love and Happiness is good. Let's stay together is classic! Im still in love with you so familiar to tons of people. LOVE is my favorite track/song that he's done. I think he's a really great singer and there are very few artists today that can capture his presence in a good way. .

I love Al Green
Al Green defines soul and this collection of his classics is a must have. Absolutely gorgeous. We listen to it all the time and it never fails to move me.
Get this!
Both are digitally remastered. I also have The Absolute Best as well as the Definitive Al Green. You may not think this is a big deal but it is! I also had a few of his CDs that were produced in the 90s with some of these same songs. The newer digital remastered versions have full sound especially on the high end. Even if you don't have a fancy stereo you can still hear the vast improvement. In some ways I am upset that I now have to purchase remastered versions of many of my cds but it seems to be worth it. For those of you who don't know how the remastering process works. . . The original master tapes are pulled from the vault. An engineer painstakinly goes thru each track and makes the needed adjustments using computers as well as his trained ear. The track that has been remastered is now digitally recorded at 24 bits, 48KHZ or higher. It is then mixed backdown to the normal cd 16bit/44Khz. If all went well the new product sounds like a new recording. Voices are clear and precise as heard on the master tape. The new result sounds shockingly better than any record or old cd! All 1960s, 70s recordings can benefit from this process. Surprisingly some 90s recordings do to. .
