My second taste of Grinspoon...each tastes gets better! What makes this album work all that more for me is that Grinspoon is homegrown Australian to the tee. If you like your rock music with a bit of a kick to it, well this album is right down your alley. From humble beginnings in street garages to playing at small venues to the unexcapable capture of big fame, Grinspoon has shined away. In this new album, the aussie boys have come up with several hit songs like 'Anyday, Anyhow', radio friendly 'Lost Control' and 'Chemical Heart' that is rock anthem at its best with a distinct Aussie theme.
This album 'New Detention' has a unique art cover that is at once bland but enticing. Like the other lone reviewer this album may take a number of times for the listener to fully appreciate the skill and strengths of this band. Other songs to look out for in this killer album is 'Killswitch', '1000 Miles' and 'Damn Straight'.
Those folks out there who says aussie rock is lame, well it definitely isn't with bands like Grinspoon, Hoodoo Guru's and Spiderbait coming to the forefront. Good album by a good group of aussie fellas. .
New Attention
Some of my favourites songs include Lost Control, Gone Tommorow, the smash hit Chemical Heart & Killswitch but i favourite would have to be boltcutter it's such a catchy, fun song. I picked up a copy of Grinspoons New dEtention a few years ago after hearing the hit single Lost Control, but never really thought about reviewing it, but since it's at the top of my cd pile i thought i might share my thoughts seeing i'm an aussie and these guys are such a huge influence. the whole albums good in general so give it listen at first it didn't appeal to me but it grew on me so give it a chance, cause you may love it after a few listens .
