The Greatest Country Album of All Time!!!!!The year was 1980,I was in the 5th grade. . all the kids at school thought they were cool by listening to Aerosmith,AC/DC(Back in Black was all the rage). I took my "allowance" cash and happily grabbed this as the 1st record I ever bought(amazingly for the same price shown here). This,to me,rocked harder than anything I'd ever heard. It still does!!!No words I could write could ever bring justice to this masterpiece. I've listened to it hundreds,if not thousands of times over the years. . . and it just always seems to get better each time I play it. Perfect Vocals,Perfect Piano,Perfect Drums,Perfect Guitar. Why this album never makes Rolling Stones Top 100 I'll never know. Everything on this album rules. . . . . . .
From 1980 to 2009,I still feel that "I Think I'll Just Stay Here And Drink" remains the most musically perfect song that our ears will ever listen to.
Long Live The "HAG"!!!!!!!.
Merle at his best
Both are quintessential Merle Haggard at his best. I purchased this along with Serving 190 Proof. Released back to back in 79 and 80 with this being the stronger of the two but solid songwriting and exceptional singing on both. .
I had the alblum
This is his best work ever, If you want beer drinking music and bar room atmspear you will not find a better CD than this.
Many great songs I hadn't heard before
The band is very tight. Awesome album! Great songs. Good tempo and feel. A must for any Haggard collection.
It is a MUST OWN classic
I owned it on a vinyl record when it first came out, then I bought a tape for my car, both were worn out completely. Whether or not you like or have EVER liked "Western Music" this Merle Haggard CD is a classic among classics. Now I have the CD so I made a spare copy of it immediately in case the original ever wears out. You must hear Merle at his finest. .
