Backed by a superior second side reminiscent of the harder hitting fusion jams he was beginning to turn from, a more prominently featured smoother production dilutes some of the hard hitting potency Hancock had spent cultivating.


HERBIE AT HIS PEAK
light drums, juicy bass, mellow horns drenched in reverb, tasteful wah-wah guitar. the musicians just seem very inspired on this album. rhodes, clav, CP-80, and various new synthesizers that he obviously had fun layering. the songs themselves are well arranged. this album is a textbook example of what a recording studio SHOULD capture when everything is set up right. just buy it!.
