Still Rocking after more than a Decade!
I am so glad I did though! This is by far the most 'mellow' of all Hanson CDs I have had (& I have all their major releases). I was eager to get this CD as soon as it came out, but it took me a while to get around to it. This CD has a great collection of songs with a slightly new sound to the album since Underneath.
It's great to see a band with such talent embrace a mission to help those in need. This CD was made after the band's trip to Africa where they saw poverty firsthand. [. . . ]I saw them in concert a week after getting this CD and they were amazing. Before each concert they do a one mile barefoot walk and the band donates $1 for each person that takes part in the walk toward 5 charitable causes they have for Africa including healthcare for mothers and education.
Many people have asked me to define the band's sound, but I can't. I can't even compare them to another band. They have a sound all their own--and I love it!.

Why so tribal?
I bought this CD because I was curious to see how they sounded now-a-days. I am a Hanson fan from way back. There are a few really good songs (in my opinion) like "Been There Before" and "Georgia". . there are a few o-k songs and a few that I just don't really jive with. The thing I don't like is the whole African tribal children singing. . it's just weird. Oh well.

Incredible Indie Rock Album
If you're still judging Hanson based on their MMMBop days, you need to stop and listen to this CD. This is an amazing indie rock album. I've played this album for friends and co-workers without telling them who it was - they gave it incredible reviews and were surprised that "those 3 boys from Tulsa" were the musicians.

Probably their best CD
This is probably my favorite CD of theirs. These guys are such a great rock band. I love the social conciousness of this CD, really the awareness of not only the AIDS crisis in Africa, but the global crisis we are involved in and our place in it. Several of the songs also really hit a chord with me, speaking of home and family. (Yay Tulsa!). Oh yeah, besides all that deep stuff, this CD ROCKS. The music itself I would put against any rock band out there, and far above anything you can find on the radio. Can't wait for the next CD, already.

For Hanson, completely average.

Since "Mmmbop" and the "Middle of Nowhere" album, I have enjoyed much of their music. I bought this album because a) I've always been impressed with these guys and b) the reviews here have been for the most part positive. Even the Christmas album, as there is something about talented kids singing holiday songs that just sounds right.
I thought some of their later work was unjustly ignored. . . "Runaway Run" etc.

I think this album is completely average. There is nothing that jumps out, nothing that makes you immediately go back and listen to again. . . nothing that'll have you humming afterwards. . .

Hey. . . the three brothers are accomplished beyond their years, sing well and by all standards are a proficient, skilled musical group.

It's just that this collection of songs. . . as "songs". . . aren't that good. . .

And this coming from a fan.
