DO NOT MISS BUYING THIS CD!!!!! If you like country music, if you like bluegrass, gospel, and/or EmmyLou Harris, you must get this CD. There is just no valid excuse for not buying this CD. Dobro fans will be in heaven. I sure hope this CD got every technical award possible, because, having heard bluegrass music for about 50 years, this is without a doubt the best engineered and produced session I have heard. All levels are perfect.
The musicians, of course, make it easy. Only the best for EmmyLou. Check out the title track, Angel Band. Every time she pauses, Jerry Douglas sneaks in a short run, often just a couple well placed notes, but it only adds to the song. You would think she has been playing with these guys 24 hours a day for years, they work so well together. The guitar playing is also top of the line, no matter who is playing.
Add to all the skill some of the best chosen old gospel songs around, and you have a gospel album that just cannot be beat. You will never regret buying this. I am sure that once through and you will play it again and sing along with every song. If you ever wanted to see if you could have gone onstage with EmmyLou, get this CD and practice. .
classic Miss Harris
I just saw her in concert two weeks ago at the Beacon Theater and she still sounds and looks great. A classic album of old timey Gospel music by the great Emmylou Harris about 20 years ago.
her ache, recorded for her lord.
this time she is specifically singing to and about her relationship with Christ. nobody ache's like Emmylou.
and it works.
this is americana to the max.
and she made this years after everyone else did their "gospel records"
she made this because she wanted to.
it is a good "kitchen listen" to accompany doing dishes or cooking.
it is easy to leave on repeat.
praise god, i feel like singing.
A masterpiece from a legend
I just recently bought another from Amazon. Truth be told, I bought this CD many years ago and foolishly gave it away. The only reason I can give for giving it away in the first place is temporary insanity. EmmyLou Harris is one of my absolute favorite artists and then to have Vince Gill (another of my favorites) singing harmony is beyond wonderful. This is pure joy from beginning to end. .
EMMYLOU HARRIS
