Emmylou Rocks!
I had this in an album version, there is not one song on this CD that I do not love! Emmylou's voice, lends the right amount of emotion on each song, she sings from her heart!.
WOW!
This is absolutely an amazing album! There's simply no fillers! Every song is great country music. After making many great albums, Emmylou still continues making great music, and makes her best album since "Pieces of the Sky". There's three songs I especially like: "To Daddy", "Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight", and "I Ain't Living Long Like This". Sometimes this album sounds even better than "Pieces. . . ". I love this album also because it has all kinds of great songs from slow ones to up-beat ones. Emmylou has an amazing voice, and she is my country star number one!
Stars: Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight, To Daddy, I Ain't Living Long Like This.
OPUS FIVE
With this album, she proved to be a singer one had to count with. Incredible ! QUARTER MOON IN A TEN CENT TOWN was, after Elite Hotel and Luxury Liner, the third masterpiece in a row for Emmylou Harris. No weak songs, each of them could have been released as a single. What could I say that hasn't been said by the previous reviewers ? Nothing. This album is perfect.
A CD that should already be in your library.
When she's good, she's great . . .
THe only tracks that I like are "Two more bottles of wine" - which is loads of fun to listen to, and makes great driving music, "To Daddy" - an old Dolly Parton song, which is classic country fed-up-woman music, and "One Paper Kid" with Willie Nelson - their voices blend beautifully on the recording, and Willie's voice always brings a tear to my eye - I love him. I was introduced to Emmylou Harris through her album WRECKING BALL, and this was much different than I expected. "Travellin' Man" is alright - I just feel that there are a lot of other songs in the same vein out there that are much better. The rest of the songs are just okay, and I didn't find them particularly memorable.
I still really like Emmylou Harris - and the good songs on this album are really great, but I don't think that this was a good "second look" at her work, and I would probably only recommend it to people who are already Emmylou Harris fans. .
