A Masterful Collection From The Woodstock Gandhi
Can't recommend it enough! "What About Me", "Woman", "Younger Men Grow Older" and "Prayer". Many of Richie Havens' great earlier songs are on this cd. . . still as poignant today as when first heard. Might just tide you over until ALL those early albums are finally re-released on cd!.
There is a master among us
"Woman" an upbeat song that will transfer energy to your soul. Study well, and ye shall prosper:) This fantastic CD starts in a typical up-beat Havens fashion. Followed by "What's Going On' a soulful rendition of M. Gaye's song. Next, is a song produced by Havens and Mark Roth called "Younger Men Grow Older", and thank God they do :) Next comes "What About Me" written by D. Valenti, a personal favorit of mine. Tune in, for the soulful grand happening that is captured by this phenomenal song. Additionally, watch out for some soulful gospel like tunes that will get you in touch with your feelings. These include " It Could Be The First DAy", "Open Our Eyes" and "Prayer". Lastly, this CD ends with 3 fantastic songs. A phenomenal rendition of J. Fuller's "San Francisco Bay Blues" live, trust me, check it out. B. E. Wheeler's "High Flyin Bird" representing Havens extrodinary strumming technique. And then, "Here Comes The Sun" by the one and only person who could cover the one and only person who wrote this song. God bless you G. Harrison, we love you. Note, the amazing J. Taylor's "Fire and Rain" is also covered on this disc. I don't know about a VW Bus, but whatever car you drive, make sure you got this baby in your collection. Peace to everyone.
Retire the 33s, a good collection
Slide this puppy into the cd player in the old VW van, fill the tank and buzz down the road like old times. Being a die hard Havens fan, I'm glad this collection is out there. In fact, maybe better cause cassette tapes were lousy then. Flash a peace sign as you travel.
