Why is this not available This is an unspeakably lovely album and very little of it is available on other collections - notably 'Parable of Ramon', 'what more can I say, John', 'Stop pulling and pushing me' and 'putting out the vibration. To update a previous review: yes, this is all on 'High flyin' bird: the Verve years', but for $150 as I write. . . ' are absolutely essential and unavailable except on the aforementioned one copy of 'High flyin' bird' at $150. I remember Richie Havens created a big splash at Woodstock, and has always been well thought of and had a loyal following - 'Mixed Bag' seemed to be the album most people knew, but 1983 was my favourite; I'm happy to see some reviewers agree with me. This is a real classic, and it is disgraceful that it is not available. Woodstock - 3 Days of Peace & Music (The Director's Cut). A great, lost treasure I have it on vinyl, but would love to get my hands on the CD. It's a shame this is hasn't been redistributed on a larger scale. Richie uses his unconventional guitar strumming style and his unique, soulful voice to perform songs of social consciousness. Well performed, well produced studio recordings and live performances that have cut through to the core of my being and have connected with me on a very profound level. . This is an incredible album, but save your money! However, one can save a lot of money by, instead of ordering "Richard P. This is an incredible album! The fact that it is not more widely recognized is a mystery and a shame. Havens, 1983", ordering the Richie Havens CD "High Flying Bird: The Verve/Forecast Years. " It contains the same songs and then some. We Need To Get Richie Havens Catalog Available On CD Echo what all the other reviewers have said. . when is this classic 1969 masterpeice going to be released? Richie Havens was/is a phenomal performer. I saw him live at My Father Place, Roslyn, NY in the summer of 1971. Wow I can still see him, seated on a high bar stool, strumming away on his guitar and singing Hansome Johnny, High Flyin' Bird, Strawberry Fields Forever, Wear Your Love Like Heaven and so much more. We, the people who have seen Richie and remember how enlighting an experience it was to see him perform. . . we need to have his music available today on CD. We don't need more Cheryl Crow, Melisa Etheridge, Jewel and others like them. . . No offense to these contemorary artists, Thery're OK, but why is it that someone like Richie Havens is relegated to the back shelf and virtually unavailable? well I quess it's because Richie Havens never made a video. . . . Oh gosh. . . How can anyone sell without a video? Until we can get our hands on his catalog and hear his vintage recordings we'll have to settle for what little is available by this so very important and vital artist. One Of The Best!!
