Great CD
This is a wonderful list of thier "greatest hits" I am pleased!!. As always, great music from this group.

'80s Heart...

I have loved Heart since Magic Man hit the Radio and I saw then on that first headline tour. I love Heart. This is not that Heart, it is '80s Heart, which was still my favorite from the era at the time, but for me this is my least favorite incarnation.

Recently however, I have repurchased my favorite era of studio albums and got the CDs again of everything up to and including "PassionWorks" and also the "LoveMonger era", I have debated geting the '80's CDs but they lack the emotional hold on me as the other albums. I compromised by geting this CD, which does have the singles that defined their "Singles" & MTV era. IT is a very good set of "Power Ballads", one old school style rock song "Black on Black II" as well as "Back to Avalon" and "The Road Home" from the accoustic era.

So here's the deal,
This is a great CD for those who are '80s Heart fans, and those like me who want something to represent that era of their work but aren't crazy enough about it to go replace their lost albums.

Heart - Greatest Hits 1985-1995
It won't get as much play time as HEARTS ESSENTIAL. Nowhere near as good, in MY opinion, as "Hearts Essential".

"Don't let it slip away..."
Even though their signature sound was dropped for radio-friendly singles, some how the formula worked. Heart had some great songs between the years 1985-1995. Heart became a household name with songs like: These Dreams, All I Wanna do is Make Love to You, Stranded, Never, What About Love, Alone, and many more. Ann and Nancy Wilson are the ultimate rock sisters. Ann's voice just gives me chills. I highly recommend this classic album. Enjoy!.

Great Songs - Stale Production

I have to say I'm surprised that the quality of songs is equally high, though more adult contemporary and less hard rocking than early Heart. I bought this on a lark because I have been enjoying Jupiter Darling and the first greatest hits collection.

Like many other groups striving to maintain their popularity, Heart adopted production techniques that ultimately dated a huge portion of their catalog sampled here. Reverb-laden "big room" drumming abounds as do painful synth parts - many of which substitute for Nancy Wilson's always tasteful guitar arrangements. Its a real shame.

If I were Ann and Nancy, I would re-record almost every tune on this collection with their touring band. Heart is at the top of the musical power, why leave this great material to historical novelty?.
