Poor representation of great songs Passion is not enough when you can't deliver with an average band and singers who can no longer reach the heights of their best work. The band lacks the power, flash and originality that they once had. I love Heart from the 70's and have heard many live performances, they have never delivered live the way they did prior to 1980 with Roger Fischer in the band. Love the songs but this fails to deliver. While I wouldn't say this was phoned in, I would say that even reasonable expectations are left wanting with this attempt. Good for the retirement fund but a letdown for long time fans sho know what this band was once capable of and hasn't been able to provide in long, long time. SAD!.
Heart-Dreamboat Annie Live
Van Morrison is doing that now with his classic "Astral Weeks" album, but Heart did it first with their classic first album "Dreamboat Annie" album. This album is an interesting concept-having a band go back and time and revisit their eraly work and put a new spin on it. After 33 year, the material still holds up well and the band is in fine form. Also, they cover Led Zeppelin better than anyone else!.
Roger Fisher... where are you?
Ann & Nancy Wilson have to eat, pay their mortgage, and buy gas, but when they act as if they were the only two members of Heart. . well. . . phooey. I saw Heart in their 70's heyday, and I can tell you that I definitely checked out Ann (hot chick playing guitar. . . go figure), but what I will always remember is Roger Fisher. Possibly, one of the hottest guitarists of the 70's. . . and one of the least well known.
Remember the intro to Crazy on You, Magic Man etc. etc. . . . that was Roger Fisher. Only the Wilson's and Fisher know the reasons for their breakup. . . there's lots of rumors out there. . . suffice it to say that Fleetwood Mac definitely handled their in-band relationships better. Come on. . . thirty years have passed and Roger Fisher still plays music somewhere?
Anyway, there is no Heart - Dreamboat Annie without the original lineup. This is just a money grab by Heart. If they ever reunite the real Heart. . . I'll be the first in line for those tickets.
Rock and Roll energy and excitement
I bought this CD with expectations and I was not disappointed. I adore Heart for the past 30 years and they never get old in the sense that their music is not passe. Hearts diverse gifts and talents are eclectic and they are legends in their own time. My all time Heart song is "I'm Crazy on You" with its spanish influence and Ann Wilson's vocals drives the passion of this song. Buy the CD and go back to the day when Rock and Roll was true!.
Fantastic
The music is great and it brought back lots of memories from my younger years. I caught this concert on PBS one night by chance and couldn't change the channel.
