What rock'n'roll for grownups should sound like

I've been listening to it steadily the last few days. John Hiatt is admirable and talented, but I must admit I sometimes overlook his albums, and only recently came across this.

This is what rock'n'roll for grownups should sound like.

This is nothing I don't like about this album.

It is so strong, it's the musical equivalent of a mighty oak tree.

Genuine John Hiatt
His next recording, Perfectly Good Guitar, had some pretty good stuff on it, but his last recording before Walk On, a live effort titled John Hiatt Comes Alive at Budokan, was downright painful to listen to. Following a string of three outstanding recordings--Bring the Family, Slow Turning, and Stolen Moments--John Hiatt then entered a dangerous flirtation with grunge. Thankfully enough, I can report that the man seems to be back on track, and Walk On is genuine John Hiatt, which means it is really, really fine. One of my favorite cuts, "Ethylene," has one of the classic first lines of all time: "I'm sittin' on the toilet with my sunglasses on, wondering what you are up to. " Hiatt is a master storyteller who really knows how to rock--a rare combination of traits--and Walk On is a CD that you really owe it to yourself to hear, especially if you have been sitting there wondering what John Hiatt is up to.

My introduction to John Hiatt
Halfway into the show, he and his band did a version of "Cry Love" that made me a believer. I needed to go see John Hiatt perform live so I could understand what the fuss was all about. It was sweet and subtle and then bold and bountiful. I noticed that the person in front of me was recording this song. When I got home, I found it on "You Tube". I watched that clip over and over until it was withdrawn from that service. Since then, I have purchased quite a few of his CD's. This CD, "Walk On" is extraordinary.

Simply one of the best albums ever!
A masterpiece by a master songwriter. If you like the American singer/songwriter genre you must buy this. . . and keep listening because it just gets better with time.
Soon you'll find yourself at a John Hiatt gig singing along with the best the world has to offer.

A Hiatt Triumph
Solid and inspired, this album has it all. This can be truly called an album all Hiatt fans must have! Rarely does an entire album consist of quality songs back-to-back. Hiatt rocks out with a more mellow sound than GUITAR and brings us back home to some of his roots. A true quality offering. Recommended!.
