good.. No Hit.. but Very GoodGreat tunes. every song is a solid song. . I don't hear a big hit. . But that doesn't make this a bad CD. I like their sound which seems a little harder then their latest. Very happy with my purchase!.
You guys are way more talented then this
If you are new to Hoobastank then buy The Reason or Hoobastank. I own every Hoobastank album and the last 2 albums have been their decline.
The band has found their rock edge, even though its an edge sold to us over and over
"I Don't Think I Love You" you is a steady rocker full of regret and heartbreak. The Good
"My Turn" explodes with fuzzy guitars, catchy vocal hooks, and anthemic rhythms. Muted riffs and melodic vocals lead the way for the pounding drums and powerful wails of "All About You. " "Sick of Hanging On" is fueled by driving drum beats and meaty riffage. "You're the One" starts off subtle, but climbs to an emotional peak in the chorus.
The Bad
Even on their second album out, I still think that Hoobastank doesn't have a definable sound. With what's out there on commercial radio today, I doubt I could say 'oh, that's Hoobastank," when their latest single comes on.
The Verdict
Having "The Reason" played on the radio ad nauseam must have gotten to the band, since most of the material on For(n)ever shys away from balladry. The band has found their rock edge, even though its an edge sold to us over and over. Despite a lack of a trademark sound, Hoobastank still delivers a powerful modern rock album full of guitar/drum fury and catchy sing-along lyrics.
Infinitely better than Every Man For Himself
Born To Lead and Without A Fight were the only saving point of that album. I liked their self titled debut, I really liked The Reason (the album, not so much the song), but after Every Man For Himself I was ready to never give this band another chance. Surprisingly For(N)ever is a much more melodic attempt at an album than Every Man For Himself and is definitely worth a listen. Nice to see they decided to actually put some effort into their recordings again even if this cd isn't as heavy or hard-rocking as I would like it to be.
doing what they do best
Whether's "Gone, Gone, Gone", "All About You" or my favorite "So Close So Far". making hard, in your face and take no apologies songs. As it is about being seperated from your loved ones whether you're fighting over in Iraq/Afghanistan or just being away from that special in the states. Even though so close to them you are just as far away as well. The song really hits it home for me.
I've been a fan of Hoobastank since "The Reason" and no this isn't that same type of album. But that is more than fine with me as the single mentioned above "So Close" gets air and video play. The guys continue to grind it out with touring and everything else. I just hope i'm able to check them out live at some point. I know it would be a great event. But for now "For(N)Ever" will do for me and that is more than enough. Solid effort from the guys and you can feel the energy back this time around. .
