G-U-D I got it on vinyl and CD. Damn good record. It is a major change of pace from there earlier work. If you are a first time Hot Water Music listner I reccommend Caution then work you way back then go to the later stuff.
legends!
I recently bought this album cuz ive been hearing so much hype about it! and i wasnt let down, right from "remedy" to "the end" its awesome, ide previously bought "a flight and a crash" in a sale and i thought its was ok, but caution is definetly better, an amazing album by a legendery band, definetly recommended to any true fan of punk!
This album is not trash as previoulsy stated by another reviewer!.
pure trash
brett probably wrote it for them. i bet they didnt even write any of this album. screw you epitaph!.
Building On The Foundations
You have to have such a mature music taste to love this. A Flight And A Crash made for the bridging point to this sound. Its hard to describe. I like Punk Rock quite a lot, I listen to some of the amateurish sounding works such as Anti-Flag, I listen to the Political Punk of Rise Against. . . Then there is this, this stretches the boarder of punk to beauty. Is that possible? I really dont care, cos thats what this is.
Caution is one of my favourite ever albums, the best HWM album, its a work of art. I honestly cant describe it properly. Some of HWM very best songs are on this album, Chucks vocals are at the top of their game, and the band as a whole hit the peaks of what they can ever hope to achieve.
You can look at this album in two ways, thats what makes it great. You can totally get pumped from it, Remedy is a class A example of that and you can find true hard punding beats in all the songs, or you can see it as something deeper than just cool beats and vocals.
Im not some soppy wuss, so dont get me confused, you just have to pick up this album. I would begin to pick out the best tracks for you, but I dont think I can. I rarely skip a track on here. Pick it up and be prepared to love HWM.
If They Mixed it up, They Could Go Places
I am a fan of this music genre, with the likes of the Alkaline Trio and such, but it seems to me that the "punk attitude" on this record is a little bit overdone, to the point where the music doesn't sound relaxed. It's an interesting album, to say the least. It's roaring guitars and dirty vocals work extremely well together. However, the non-stop anger and slightly unneccessary punk rebellion pouring out of the record gets to be boring by the end, and it loses its validity. The first song on the album, "Remedy," is straightahead rock and sets what appears to be a varying pace to the album. However, it keeps at the exact same speed and never really changes moods. After the first four or five tracks, the sound starts to become wearying, and by the end, it is nothing short of boring. With some more variety, this could be a great punk record, but as it is, there is just too much of the same material here. I am not a hardcore Hot Water Music fan, this is my first of their albums. I think I'll wait until their next album to see what they've constructed and progressed to, because if they are going to make a punk rock gem, this is too monotone to be that shying star in their career. It is undoubtedly some good material, and the musicianship is superb. The loose ends are rather pleasing because it gives the feeling that nothing has been overproduced, and honestly, it hasn't. Like I've said, though, the songs on here are simply too repetitive to be called anything but a mistrial. I would recommend waiting for their next LP rather than buying this one.
