It's no 'Forever & Counting' but.... It's not terrible but it's no 'Forever & Counting'. For those of us from FloriDUH who frequented the Hardback, this is just another overproduced album purchased for the soul purpose of reminising. I'm biased as I grew accustomed to the grit and sweat of the early records which is just not found here. Overall, if you like their newer stuff, you'll enjoy this disc.
Because I adore these guys- what they represent, how they live & love, and where they're from- I say support them and buy this album and every other record they put out. If your new to HWM, go with their earlier albums or the 'Live at the Hardback' comp from the "final show" in G-ville. Fans will recognize the bands progression from HWM-B. B. (before breakup) and appreciate their growth and journeys on 'Till the Wheels Fall Off'. .
Slightly Disappointing, But Good for Die-Hards
" And I've decided I probably should have gone with "Never Ender" for those essential, rare tracks like "Loft," an early song that highlights this band's early genius. I now officially own every HWM album except "A Flight and Crash" (though I've heard most of it) and "Never Ender. I also still want Chuck's solo album.
Basically, this latest release is scattered. I agree with a friend of mine who said, "it's amazing how it goes from rockin' to kinda sucky and then back to rockin' again. " Unfortunately, the best song is one I already owned, which is the cover of Alkaline Trio's "Radio. " It's still amazing, though. The newer songs, however, really aren't very creative, like "So Many Days," or "Home. " Just listen to the guitars and drums, you'll notice they just fall short in terms of the breathtaking musicianship showncased on earlier albums.
Having said all this, this is probably a must-own for true HWM fans, because there are enough songs like "Seeing Diamonds," "Moments Pass" and of course the wonderful yet out-of-print song of the same album, "Moonpies for Misfits. " So if you own everything else, you should go for it. Otherwise, scoop everything else up first, including The Draft. .
Another Awsome CD from HWM
if your a fan of their other cd's you'll love this one too. another fantastic cd from hwm.
If you like HWM, buy it...
I love HWM and for them to come out with a CD, well you have to buy it. It's a great purchase. I mean some songs are repeats from other CDs but it's still worth it.
