I just love Icehouse From "Down Under", this wonderful band! I just love them!
It brings back good memories from my year spent in Oz!!.
Never thought I'd love a re-mix album It took me a while but I eventually bought all their old albums and became a fan. By the time I came across Icehouse in the late 80's, they had already pretty much broken up. To be honest, when I found this cd, I didnt really read the fine print about it being a dance remix of Icehouse songs. Had I read that info at the time I might have never bought it. Sorry, I cant really stand other people remixing other artists songs and especially turning them into dance club mixes.
Having said that I am shocked to find myself unable to stop listening to this cd. What these guys have done to some of Icehouses best songs is nothing short of brilliant.
Songs like "love in motion" and "lay your hands on me" are addictive. "Hey little girl" isnt bad but quite often the one I skip a lot.
If your a fan of Icehouse then I advise giving it a try. Wary of dance remixes? I was. . . now I love it.
Terrible!!!
Imagine, Icehouse's classics cuts, mixed with now-a-day danceable sounds by the best Djs from Australia.
It's a total deception. What could be fallen?. . . everything.
The result is a such pair of 'Bad Words' for the real Icehouse fans, personally i only like the remixes made by the band itself.
But these ones doesn't have any respect from the original sounds, and in no way reach to be 'new versions'.
I don't understand the obsession for turning the classics in dancefloor's garbage (the fashion of the 90's marketing).
This one is worst that the 'Full Circle' compilation (at least there was a couple of interesting mixes inside), and that's saying too much.
The only star i've given to this one is maybe for the new track 'Lay Your Hands On Me' (definitly not from the best of Icehouse, but lets think it's a 'experiment' with dance)and Street Cafe -Smash'n'Grabb Mix- (clossest thing to 'worth the mix' in this cd).
If you're party people, you could find it funny, but If you're a complete Icehouse fan, I suggest you to save your money. .
Tremendous " Curiousity overcame me and I broke down and bought it. As a longtime fan of Iva Davies and Icehouse, I was skeptical at first of the thought of a collection of classic tracks "clubbed up.
What a coup! Many club mixes these days are little more than vanity projects for the various remixers. The mixes here stay true to the spirits of the original while giving them a new energy. If you're not a fan of club music, you won't enjoy this album. If you're an Icehouse purist, you definitely won't enjoy this album. Otherwise, check it out with an open mind, and you're likely to find it one of the best Icehouse collections out there.
Meltdown, exactly what has happened here.......... Some of the songs are so heavily 'beat up' that they cannot be recognized as Icehouse songs. Anybody who loves the real thing that Icehouse can do will be very disappointed with this mishmash of great songs that have been put through the dance beat mill and mixed to produce pure meltdown,no pun intended. I hated it and cannot play it knowing how good the original songs are ! I bought this in Paris because I desperately needed some Icehouse in my blood and totally missed my favourite album
Great Southern Land, now gone but never forgotten. Buy only if you need the total collection or you like chucking money down the drain !.
