Beware The Ides Of March
It sounds very muddy in the quieter places and sounds like it was recorded too loudly in others. Avoid this version!

The problem is in the mastering. The acoustic guitar intro to "LA Goodbye" sounds low and yet very brittle at the same time. "Friends of Feeling" at the beginning sounds way too muddy. That song was faded out earlier than the original, as were others. During the quiet parts I hear a rumbling noise in the background, as if it were recorded from vinyl. I have the 8-track tape and even THAT sounds better than this CD. I have read that the same label that did this CD had also done the "Vehicle" CD before it and that one sounded awful too. But as to this version of "Common Bond", it sounds terrible. Stay away from this one.

News: June 14, 2006--The Collectors' Choice version of Common Bond has been released. By all means, get THAT one instead. It sounds like it should--no early fadeouts or rumbling noise like this version has. And at $12. 98, it costs much less too.

Common Bond
This was a follow-up of the famous Vehicle album. Its' about time that this album is released. It seems that Warner Brothers dropped the ball when they didn't promote the Ides of March. There are many great songs on this album. But I feel that the most overlooked song, "Superman", is the best on this CD. This CD brings back the quality that performers used to have. The Ides of March (Jim Peterik, Larry Millas, Mike Borch, Bob Bergland, Chuck Soumar, John Larson, Dave Stahlberg and Scott May) still provide that type of quality of music that we all need. Now, let's get World Woven and Midnight Oil released!.
