indigo girls cd If you like the indigo girls, you'll definitely like these cds. The Cd's were great, you get 3 cds,the price was excellent. really a good deal. I'm very pleased with my purchase.
A Good Introduction to the Girls...
The first album in the set is a must-own for anyone who is interested in this group, with "Closer to Fine" and "Tried to Be True" being staples of their live sets. For the price, this is an excellent introduction to the Indigo Girls' work. The remainder of this album provides a solid underpinning for these standout tunes. Overall, it is an album you can put on and listen to in its entirety over and over and still enjoy years later.
"Strange Fire" is, in my estimation, a throwaway album with one or two decent tunes on it. Aside from the acoustic "Land of Canaan" and the cover of "Get Together", the rest is filler.
"Nomads, Indians, Saints" shares time in my Best Indigo Girls Album rotation with Rites of Passage and Swamp Ophelia. The album is thouroughly enjoyable, and highlights Emily's Voice better than the other two albums in this set. The duo's musical evolution between "Strange" and "Nomads" is incredible - it's like hearing the band for the first time again.
All in all, I would recommend this album on the price point - for the price of 2 discs, you get "Indigo Girls" and "Nomads, Indians, Saints"; "Strange Fire" is thrown in as a freebie, and there are some tunes on there that you will want to have if you are in love with their music the way I am.
All three are amazing.
Much as another reviewer has said, I had these three albums on cassette--the CDs were a smart investment. Why wouldn't you buy this set? That's what I asked myself. If you enjoy complex guitar work and inspiring, thoughtful lyrics, then you'll fall for these albums. All the classics are there. In addition, the CDs come in a nice box that stands out in your collection. Truly a worthwhile purchase for any Indigo Girls fan.
Just what I was looking for
This boxed set replaced just what I needed. I had the first three albums on cassette tape only and they were in terrible shape. I learned to love the Indigo Girls from these albums. My favorite songs include one from each album; World Falls, Closer to Fine, and Strange Fire.
Was this necessary
This is just three so-so albums packaged in a cute little wrapper. Usually box sets span the entire career of an band. I've given up hope on them long ago, hopefully a greatest hits will be coming soon.
