REINVENTED
As well as the title of this Album (C. GOOD JOB INXS! Arguably one of the best replacements of a Lead Singer from a popular '80s band since Sammy Hagar with Van Halen. D. ) SWITCH, very appropriate!.

Love, Love, Love this
This happens to be my second copy of this album, since the first one was damaged. This is great music. As I reviewed on the first one,the songs are full of variety showing off INXS's many talents. "Afterglow" is my favorite. I think the group has a great new lead singer that can't replace Michael Hutchence but can certainly take the group to the next level.

Buy and enjoy over and over again.

The Story...

Three brothers, three high school chums, and a garage band takes breath. Of INXS is the stuff of Rock and Roll legendry. A gig here, a crowd there, then recognition. One break-out tune brings them from Down Under to the world stage. With both hits and misses they continued to hone their craft for over two decades, until tragedy hit with the untimely death of their lyricist and front man. . . and oldest friend.
Dedicated and talented musicians, they found other projects. Dedicated and talented musicians, they yearned to live beyond the calamity and regain their first love; comrades, they assessed their strengths, weaknesses and desires. They needed a new front man and lyricist. There were attempts but the "fit" was illusive.
Enter Jason Dean Fortune. . .
Fifteen years their junior, the grandson of a local Canadian musician and a dream of his own. As a teen, it was INXS on his headphones as he bellowed out favored tunes and daydreamed he was a rock star. A gig here, a crowd there, and. . . a cattle call.
A cattle call 'extrodinaire' to be sure. This was no longer a garage band. These were seasoned, successful musicians with their own catalog and a dedicated following to consider. A good voice would not suffice; their goals firm: a singer, a lyricist, a performer. . . a "fit". And so this cattle call and all of its "callbacks" began.
In an attempt to discern who amongst these singers also had writing abilities they were divided into two groups and given the same track with instructions to write lyrics for it. They were told the track would be included on a new album. Dismayed with his group's attempts, Fortune reared a rebellious head and departed. Facing derision from fellow singers and consternation from the band for "breaking the rules", he submitted a song about rock and roll life entitled Pretty Vegas. The song would seal his fate and go on to the highest debut of any INXS tune. Yet it will never get the recognition it deserves only because we, the masses, were privy to the cattle call.
The product of this new union, Switch, was an album that *must* be made, each song giving a glimpse at the road traveled, the immediate intersection and the road ahead. Let's hope it goes on forever. . . .

INXS Rocks!
This is an intimate view of the relationship that has formed between INXS founding members and their new lead singer, Jason Fortune. The Switch CD alone is awesome but this added bonus " The making of Switch" just makes it so much more special.

The "Rockstar" facade is stripped away to reveal a story of five musicians that just want to do what they were destined to do,"make great music". This is about their search for a new member (not a replacement) to be the voice of their music. They have ultimately found that person in Jason Fortune, who shares their vision and wants to be part of this band. As the seventh member of this band, Jason is able to be a creative addition to this band while maintaining a respect for the legacy of Michael Hutchence.
INXS shares their personal feelings about some of the songs off the album. Tim, Kirk, Garry, Andrew, Jon, and Jason each put their heart into this album and it really comes through on the CD, especially through such songs as Afterglow, God's Top Ten, and Remember Who's Your Man.

I hope any long-time fans that may still have doubts about INXS's decision, buy this dual disk, watch the dvd and be a part of "INXS's journey".

THE BIRTH OF THE PRETTY
If you own the CD you know the songs. INXS is back with Switch. If you have paid any attention to the music world in the last year you know the story of how INXS became a complete band again. If you are a true INXS fan, you are happy that their music is alive again. The beacon of INXS music is bright again. And if you have doubts as to whether JD Fortune is a permanent member of INXS or not, you have but to pop in this DVD. The band talks about the creation of Switch, about the decision to choose JD Fortune and about his value to the band.

Just look at their faces and hear it in their voices. The band is giddy with pleasure at how well things have come together. The band is one again. The five original members of INXS have a new brother. It is clear that he has become their brother and that together they will achieve greatness.

Switch is indeed a classic. INXS is indeed and old friend, and JD Fortune is indeed a Rock Star.

To hear the happiness radiating from each member of the band and to see the smiles that seem to be permanently affixed to their faces makes the price of this Dual Disk well worth the money.

Also included on the DVD portion is the video to Pretty Vegas, the song co-penned by Andrew Farriss and JD Fortune. And finally, the much talked about audition of JD Fortune for the RS: INXS series, wherein Kirk accompnies him on the classic Never Tear Us Apart is included.

This Dual Disk will make any INXS fan proud of Our Band and will make any INXS fan lucky enough to have a ticket to the sold out leg one of their Switched On Tour excited for the day they will hear JD Fortune say, "We are INXS!" INXS, we are lovin' it, lovin' it.
