Best Since Powerslave !!!!!!
Been through their ups and downs. I have been a Maiden fan for 20 years. Hated when Bruce Dickinson left and loved it when he came back. ( Blaze sucked anyway) I don't expect them to ever make another album like Number of The Beast or Powerslave but this comes pretty damn close. The guitars are heavy and Bruce Dickinson proves that he is in the top 3 voices ever to come out of England for metal. (Dio and Ozzy of course need consideraton) This band is one of the greatest ever and will live on for ever. They stay true to their fans and their music. As a long time follower, that is the mark of a true metal band. Up The Irons Boys !!!!!.

maiden
maiden still kicking after all these years, makes me look foward to their next cd. the fact that the could put out a cd this good this far into their career is unbelievable. .

The Maiden machine in fine form.....
Once they got Smith/Dickinson back, peak form instantly returned. Maiden are the best, bar none for my tastes. The three guitar attack is untouchable, and Janick Gers contributions continue to add layers to their sound. Brave New World just jumps off the page at you, Dance of Death was solid, though underappreciated a bit. A Matter of Life and Death at times reminds me of the mid to late 80's Maiden days, but in a modern context. I like it a lot. "Lord of Light" and "The Pilgrim" are a couple of standouts here. .

Great Medium-Paced Album
Its not a bad album. . My only real complaint is the songs average from 5 minutes to about 9 minutes long and about the first 2-3 minutes of each song is a slow melodic intro on almost every one. . . . It kinda kills the fast metal pace when all songs have a slow intro and you have to wait to get into it. Plus the songs are very medium-fast paced. . . Nothing very speedy like their classic albums. . . .

Maiden's finest album since "Powerslave"
It simply is their BEST effort since the mighty "Powerslave" which gave us "Live After Death", the greatest live album of all time. There's a reason why they performed this album in it's entirety for every show on the "Matter of Life and Death World Tour" 2006-2007. It makes sense that they would revisit their old material on the "Somewhere Back in Time Tour" 2008-2009, because I can't imagine any new material topping this album at all.
