VOYAGE BEYOND GREATNESS!!
Combining rock, funk and smooth R&B sounds, this is a supreme effort!. This compact album from The Isleys is again another masterpiece of musicmanship!!. "the pride" is so encouraging, makes you feel confident. "Tell me when you need it again" ,a pleading song on a real lively beat. So is "climbin' up the ladder" so positive, listen the lyrics!. There is also "livin' in the life" a real party cut. Now, "VOYAGE TO ATLANTIS" is simply out of this very world, perhaps the best song on the album, perhaps the best song they ever create, and truly one of the very best ballard of all times!!!, . It is pure romantic fantasy comes alive!,this groove takes you somewhere with someone where you could love for an eternity and never know a moments boredom, a relm of pure pleasure and sweet sensuality!!.
Oh, there is also pain and uncertainity here too!! "footsteps in the dark" is a great ballard of such gloom.
With pride, I strongly encourage all isley fans to go get this sparkling gem of a album, and even to those who are curious give it an ear, you will be hearing pure magic!!.
.

Powerful Of A Album!!!
The Brothers are in pure form here with the perfect blend on soul, funk, and rock. Another powerhouse of an album! Four years after 3+3 and no rust yet. Again, no filler, all pure powerful music!.

Go for it!
Most of the songs on this LP (LP back in the day) has been sampled by rap artists. Here is some one of a kind music producted by the Isley Brothers. To listen to these tracks, you will discover that the music they were making at that time was some of the best recordings made.

Underrated
IMO, this album was the precursor to the "Go All The Way" album in 1980. Released in 1977 The Isley Brother's " Go For Your Guns" album is the most underrated project the Isley Brothers ever made. One can hear the similarities, the smooth fusion of funk and rock in both uptempo and ballads. It is hard for me to have a fave song here, because they are all great songs. . but if I had to pick, I would go against the grain and pick "Livin In The Life" a monster cut with smoking synth and guitar work!

It is hard for me to pick a "best" ballad on this album too. Both "Footsteps In The Dark" and Voyage To Atlantis" are classic. If the is one thing I would change on this project, I would have made "Living In The Life" and "Go For Your Guns" one song, one GREAT song! in closing, "Go For Your Guns" is a great album, but is not mentioned in the same breath as " The Heat Is On" and it should be. My Fave Isley Brothers project is "Go All The Way", but you cannot go wrong to buy this CD. . . . a seemless funky, rock out, cool out journey. . Enjoy!.

livin in the life
Classic Isley brothers album(oops i mean cd)with six or seven songs and all these are good. This is one of the best of the 3+3 period. I have all of these albums and i am getting some of the 3+3 period on cd. .
