Her best album Good stuff!. Janet Jackson's best album by far! It all seems so old-school now, but still great music with then ground-breaking rhythm, style mixing, and lyrics.
One of Janet's Finest Albums
The album was an unprecedented success, spawning a record-setting 7 top 5 singles, with chart-toppers in 3 different years - 1989, 1990, and 1991. The socially-concerned Rhythm Nation 1814 is pop star Janet Jackson and mega-producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis at their collective best. No album since has matched these accomplishments. The synth-driven songs range from the funk-heavy societal commentaries of "Rhythm Nation" (built on a Sly and the Family Stone sample) and "State of the World" to soft ballads dripping with harmonies like "Come Back to Me" and "Lonely. " In between are dance-pop classics like "Escapade," "Love Will Never Do," "Miss You Much," and the rock song "Black Cat," all of them Billboard number-ones. "Someday is Tonight" closes the album perfectly with a tantalizing preview of Janet's awaiting incarnation. Rhythm Nation 1814 is the rare album with no filler; I regularly listen to it from beginning to end without ever skipping a track. Janet and her Flyte Tyme producers managed to create an album that was timely and remains timeless. 5 Stars.
Action Jackson
Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 is filled with upbeat pop music that you can dance to, along with certain messages that come out of each song that might make the listener feel inspired. This is the second time that I had to purchase this particular CD album because it is so good that the first one I had wore out. The song "Love will never do," is also on her Design of a Decade album, but the version on Rhythm Nation is a slightly longer version.
One of my favorite albums of all time!
This album is truly her best. How can you not like this album? Even though Madtv joked about it being a 12 year old album. I saw the rhythm nation video, and they could have went a little more controversial, but decided to stay safe with just dancing. Wow, it's upbeat and i really love the title track to this album. It's defiantly down loadable. The Knowledge has very good up tempo beats as well. I even saw Michael Jackson say this was one of his favorite tracks of all time. Really the reason that helped this album to be such as breakthrough was for the fact that it almost seems like a female version of Michael Jackson. Which i think really helped put this album on the map. The commentary tracks in between this album are also very great as well. You get a real sense of what she's trying to accomplish on this album. Black Cat is also one of my favorite tracks of all time. I really think that she did a great job of crossing genres when she came out with this song. It's actually an excellent 80's rock song. And that helped her have great cross-over appeal. .
Janet shows she's not just Michael's kid sister!
She can act as we saw her grow up in Good Times, dance in her music videos like Escapade, and sing better her big brother, Michael, who she idolizes. In my opinion, Janet Jackson is the most talented of the Jackson clan. I won't get into that relationship but Janet is one of the best singers to come from the music video era that ruled MTV and VH-1. Janet's escapade, rhythm nation, and other videos were classic and still are compared to today's. I didn't care for the in-between mini-speeches or explanations on this compact disc but still it's a great compilation of her music. Makes you want to get up and dance.
