****1/2. Great music. Get the box set Guitar legend Elmore James with the huge voice was by far the most important and influential slide guitarist of the post-WW2 years, and these thirteen tracks are from the latter part of his career. If for some reason you don't want the superb 64-song box set "King Of The Slide Guitar", which rounds up all of Elmore's recordings for the Fire and Enjoy labels, the four "Complete Fire & Enjoy Sessions" discs are a must-have. There are three very similar takes of "Mean Mistreatin' Mama" on this disc, God (and the Collectables label) only know why. And then there is the classic, up-tempo boogie of "Shake Your Moneymaker" is here as well, the superb single "Talk To Me Baby (I Can't Hold Out)", the funky grind of "Can't Stop Lovin' My Baby", and the smouldering "It Hurts Me Too". I'd get the box set, but, hey, that's just me. In either case, this is some of the best, toughest electric blues you'll ever hear.
