This is what I call quality music If there was a rating system that would allow me to rate this 10/5, I would. JKay's rendition of Donna Summer's disco hit "Bad Girls" was beyond extraodinary, not to mention that the amazing video of "Corner of the Earth" is also included.
THE BEST
But when i saw the name of it i was amazed. When i first heard this track i couldn`t believe that it`s Jamiroquai. It certainly is one of the best tracks released this year. I love the Knee Deep`s mixes of Main Vein. I just keep listening to it all over again and again. It is a MUST. 100%:).
A groovin' surprise from JK and the gang
I snatched up this single to entertain me during a 9 hour bus ride to Granada, Spain, and I wasn't disappointed. I am a huge fan of Jamiroquai and own almost all of their albums (and many unreleased songs as well).
"Corner of the Earth" begins with a worldbeat type opening, with a sweeping string chorus that quickly melts into Jamiroquai's unique blend of funk, disco and soul. I didn't like the song that much at first, but after repeated listens it has definitely grown on me. The lyrics are full of nature imagery and Jay fairly croons this one. The video for "Corner of the Earth" was a pleasant bonus as well.
"Bad Girls" is a cover of Donna Summers' classic and a downright fun live singalong featuring Anastacia. A great backing chorus and saucy delivery make this one a treat, as well as disco-danceable.
At first, I preferred the "Main Vein" Knee Deep Classic mix to the Swings Jazzy Thumper mix. The two are similar, but the Jazzy Thumper mix won me over in the end. It is more uptempo than the first mix and makes more use of the Hammond organ riff rather than the guitar solo.
The "Corner of the Earth" single is a wonderful investment any Jamiroquai fan's collection. With two new remixes, a live disco cover, and the video, it is a wonderful add-on to the new "A Funk Odyssey" album.
