Hardest Jarre Project to Listen to

Though, with that said, the album is still salvageable. "Sessions 2000", for me, is currently the hardest album of his to listen to. It seems to mimic Star Trek's even number curse for the most part.

I think what turned most people off was the first track. January 24. It's consists of mostly overcooked, uninteresting sound effects. I felt the piano and bass should have been more of an element.

The highlight in "Sessions 2000" is clearly March 23. The sax-like tune is very calming. It captures a wonderful, lounge-type feel. The country-like guitar sound (occurring 2/3's in the piece) ruins the piece a little though.

On the other hand, May 1 seems a bit over the top. The main fading sound is not that relaxing or exciting. It is not the worst track though.

June 1 is okay. It carries a decent ambient sound with some tolerable sounding beats throughout. Not that hard on the ears. . .

. . . but September 14 definitely is. It is way too long. By the halfway point of the track, I had a hard time convincing myself to keep the album playing. I felt this could be used by interrogators (it's that bad).

December 17 is a nice ambient piece though. It is dreamy-like, and although it is quite repetitive, it remains appealing.

I can understand why some people would and wouldn't like this. It's different. It's not entirely scrap though. But it's far for a masterpiece.

Overall, it really needed some energy. It's depressing if you ask me.

Is this Jean-Michel Jarre??
This is nothing at all like Jarre's work. I bought this CD about 4 years ago and sold it the same day I got it. The songs went nowhere. They lacked style and direction. It was like "ambient-jazz", if there is such a thing. The CD came with no information about this as well. It was just the case and the CD. It was almost as if this was a push to meet some kind of a deadline or record company requirement.
All in all, if your looking for Jarre on this one, he is not musically present. Some musicians take different paths with their art , and while some pull it off. . . Jarre's path leads to a cliff. This is just really bad music. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!.

Not so good
Without doubt, he is my biggest influence in making my music, his albums Equinoxe and Oxygene are perhaps both my favourite and most influential albums. I am a huge fan of Jean Michel Jarre. I listened to 30-second samples of each song from his official website, and it does not sound good. It's Electro - jazz music, and it also sounds a bit too experimental. When he used singing for the album Metamorphoses, I found the album to be quite good, but definitely not as good as the older albums, but this one is really bad. Buy the other ones instead.

Excellent Surprise
In this album he explores different styles and the jazz influence can be clearly felt. Jean Michel Jarre continues to surprise his fans. There are no "Oxygene/Equinoxe"-like tunes in it, but the atmosphere created is realy cool. What I like about the album is that one can realy feel the fact that Jean Michel Jarre and his "partner in crime", Mr Francis Rimbert, had a lot of fun playing and recording "Sesions 2000". Anyway, for me at least, it is much better than "Metamorphoses".
