sweet voice, but why? give us a LIVE CD! but nooo, we get a "chat" cd! HUH! . Not only is this cd dumb, but add to that she has NO Live CD out, DOH! here shows are always more "up" than her reg cd's would ya not thunk she would put one out? she has enough tunes now, so thats not the problem.
The mind of a poet
For anyone who is interested in how the mind of a poet/songwriter works then get the book and the cd. How nice it is to not only read her book of the same title but to hear this music. It's so rare nowadays to have poets who are the true force behind their own singing voices and songs but with Jewel you get the real deal, the truth matches her name. I like how she describes the day she decided she needed to move out of the main house into her own cabin (which is common in Alaska to have a cabin), how nice it was for her to be in her own space with her own thoughts, this is when her writing really took off. I like the story of the "sponge bath" too! In Alaska the only bath you get is when the neighbor fires up the hot tub! I love how in touch she is with nature and horses and the land, a true poet. Long live Jewel and her art.
This is a good thing
Well I really don't know what to write.
Ummmm well I read the book and honestly it was the first book I have read since I graduated in 2001. It was great.
But listning to the CD is even better, now I can listen to it in the car, when I go to sleep at night and so on.
Jewel is my favorite artist, I even went to see her when she came to Vancouver with Stuart Mathis.
Any ways Jewel speaks to me in a way no other artist can.
Like being there yourself
It's hard to believe that this amazing woman suffers from dyslexia as she reads aloud evertyhing that makes her so unique. Jewels voice is strong and presise as she tells story after story about her life, hopes, dreams and poetry.
Listening to her, i can see everything so clearly that she tells and it makes you long for more.
Jewel, we love you!!!!!
A must buy. Simply the best artist this decade. She reminds me of what Janice Joplin, BB King, Jimmy Hendricks and the rest tried to say to us in the 60's and 70's. Will we listen now and give her the honor she deserves?.
