Talented Singer Not many artist would attempt this unless they were exceptionally talented. If you like a variety of music, you are going to love this CD! I had to look again at my player to make sure I was still listening to the same CD because her style had changed so much from one song to another. Need I say anymore?.
Not Pop Not Country Not Rock Just JEWEL
She stands alone as the very best singer/entertainer today. Original is the only word I have to describe Jewel's style. This is one of her very best albums and there is nobody out there today who has more Talent. Buy this album relax and go where she has been and beyond. Her mother sure named her right. I've had this album like 7 years and it is still just as good now as it was new. .
Good
My favorite one is Serve the Ego. This is really good music. I can listen to it all day.
The parts are better than the whole
My wife came home and asked why I was playing country music. I put this on infinite repeat whilst doing housework.
That's right, Jewel's gone back to her folk roots (not country) with this one, leaving me wanting. I picked it up for "Standing Still" and found a few other tracks that were more pop-ish, but if you're into neo-folk, this is the one for you.
Very Nice Work!
Standing Still is the catchy first track that appealed to the masses, even the country crowds as she opened for Garth Brooks here and there. This could be construed as the album that made Jewel a crossover star. Wonderful lyrics and catchy tunes make up this 14 song set. Cleveland is a wonderful song, and Love Me, Just Leave Me Alone shows Jewel has the juxsy to boss the boys around. Great album all around, no doubt about that.
