The best album in the world...ever!
I never get sick of listening to any of the tracks, which is a feat on it's own, let alone add in the fact it's musically and lyrically genius! It's the kind of album where you'll be thinking about the lyrics forever, how they're so true, so apparent and fit into your own life. Everytime I listen to this album (and that's a lot) I still find it hard to believe it's 10 years old! It's truely timeless. The music just aids the lyrics so well, drives them straight to your heart and buries them deep.

1. Table For Glasses - A slow opener but still with a pounding drum beat, I think of it as a warm up track, getting you ready for the rest of the album. 7/10
2. Lucky Denver Mint - This is the track that first got Jimmy Eat World noticed, and you can see why. One hell of a driving beat throughout and those magical lyrics. . . "This time it's on my own, Minutes from somewhere else". A simple structure, but so much depth, gets better with every listen, even after years of listens! 10/10
3. Your New Aesthetic - The heaviest song so far, more of a "punk" mentality to it "take back the radio". Snappy drums and shouty vocals make this a more agressive track. 8/10
4. Believe In What You Want - Staying quite uptempo, this has a very driving riff and heavy drums. "Do you believe in what you want?" they ask as they continue to provoke more of your thoughts. 8/10
5. A Sunday - A Beautiful slower track, the bands ability to go from a very mellow drifty style to driving urgency in a split second starts to become apparent here. "Learn as the drugs leave, learn as you lose it and you will" yet more amazing lyrics. 9/10
6. Crush - The tempo is cranked back up for "Crush". Punky at times but still doesn't manage to lose that maturity conveyed in the lyrics. . . "Settle for nothing less again". 8/10
7. 12. 23. 95 - Things are slowed way down here. Almost lullabye like. . A drum machine is brought in here to inkeep with the softness of the track. Sends you into a musical trance. 8/10
8. Ten - Tempo is upped back again here but not completley, mid-tempo, the snappy drum kick is back but the soft keyboard stays. The poignant lyrics are present as ever "I can't bring myself to say it's my own advice I need". 8/10
9. Just Watch The Fireworks - This is where they show exactly what they're made of, not many bands can not only produce extremley emotional lyrics and then convey them to the song but also match the music to the emotion. Here they do, and they do it perfectly, without a doubt my favorite song on the album. Tempo wise, it's up and down throughout, some lyrics are repetative but you'll never get bored as they don't sound the same twice. Lyrically, from the soft opening "Here, you can be anything. . . and I think that scares you" to the urgent ending of "I stay up as late as it takes" will completley captivate you. The song as a whole is pretty near perfect in every aspect, the strings add a nice aspect not heard much on the album. Everything about "Just Watch The Fireworks" is completley captivating and entrancing, you'll find a very wide range of emotions will be provoked. 10/10
10. For Me This Is Heaven - A very good attempt at following up JWTF. Snappy drums are back, emotive lyrics are ever present, checklist is complete. The lyrics "Can you still feel the butterflies?" are found on the actual CD itself, which is a perfect testement to Clarity as an album, it will leave you feeling the butterflies. 9/10
11. Blister - Very punky, up-tempo, more grungy sounding, but with so much more depth than any regular punk song. 8/10
12. Clarity - Similar in sound to Blister but at the same time completley different. Soft verses met with a collision of guitars and those greatly crafted lyrics again. 8/10
13. Goodbye Sky Harbour - Once again, showing off their amazing diversity in one song. This is a 16min song, with only the first 3mins of it containing lyrics, the rest. . . 13mins of captivating guitar riffs, dreamy harmonies, exceptional use of layering, you will not get bored. In fact you'll probably want it to go on even longer. 10/10

Overall, this album will completley capture you, your ears, your heart and your soul.

You probably won't have heard anything like this before if you're not familiar with Jimmy Eat World. A Must hear for any music fan, regardless of the genre. This album is a complete masterpiece and has well and truely stood the test of time and will continue to do so.

Quite Simply Their Greatest Work
I use it as a coaster today. Sadly, the first exposure most people have to Jimmy Eat World is through 2001's "Bleed American," which for many longtime JEW fans was a complete disappointment.

There is good reason JEW is touring in early 2009 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of this album - they likely recognize that it is still their best and most lauded work. I'd give my leg to be able to be at a show and watch them play this album from beginning to end (if they pull off the album version of "Goodbye Sky Harbor" they are nothing short of deities).

Anyway, this is a beautifully produced and conceived album. The opening track, "Table for Glasses" is still one of my favorite songs of all time, and definitely sets the tone for an album laden with drum loops, synthesizers, string quartets, harmonized vocal layering, tubular bells, xylophones, marimbas, piano, etc etc. The list goes on, and the benefits of having been on a major label during the production of this album are readily apparent in the production.

This CD is absolute bliss. It strikes a near-perfect balance between quiet balladry and hard rock, yet all in a much more sincere and less pretentious way than subsequent albums. There are few albums like it.

Static Prevails was raw

Bleed American was a sellout and trite

Futures had a few good songs

Chase This Light is forgettable.

But Clarity is one of the best albums you could ever buy. Worth every penny.

Best album ever... by anyone.
It didn't leave my CD player for over a year. My buddy brought this album over (in '99) when it was release. . . and 9 years later, I still here things I've never heard before. Producer Mark Trombino played a big roll in bringing this album to life and IMHO it is his finest work. This album was way ahead of its time. Less poppy than their following albums but more creative with so much more depth.
If your first J. E. W. experience was "The Middle", it may take you a few listens to get into it. . . but trust me, you will get hooked.

"Here you can be anything, anything that scares you..."
There are some gorgeous and hard-rockin' songs such as Blister, Lucky Denver Mint, A Sunday, Just Watch the Fireworks, For Me This Is Heaven, and the title track. Clarity by Jimmy Eat World was their breakthrough album, much-loved by fans, this cd is considered their masterpiece. Jim Adkins takes over on lead vocals for the first time, and boy I just adore his voice, he gives me chills everytime. And don't forget about the 16 minute epic, Goodbye Sky Harbor, love the line: "You are smaller, getting smaller but I still see you. " I highly recommend this gem of an album and of course their last three albums as well, enjoy!.

the best CD Jimmy has put out
I could (and have) listened to this CD for months at a time without listening to anything else. Out of all of their CDs this one has to be the best. "Goodbye Sky Harbor" is one of my favorites.
