Bossa Nova & Jazz, a Great Fusion Album!
The "First Generation" included Antonio Carlos (Tom) Jobim (1927-1994), Joao Gilberto and Vinicius de Moraes as their main artists. Bossa Nova started in Brazil in the late `50s. Their themes were composed focusing on "Love, Smiles & Flowers" and greatly influenced Latin America's music and even USA's jazz composers.

The music of the present CD was recorded in 1970 when Bossa Nova was already firmly mixing with Jazz and conquering a huge melodic space at USA.
The original recording of "Tide" was done at Van Gelder studios at the same time with "Stone Flower" employing the same instrumentalists; actually a subset of them for "Stone Flower".
Tom Jobim (piano, electric piano, guitar and composer of all but one of the musical pieces in the CD) join and mix his efforts with arranger Eumir Deodato (1943) to give the audience an outstanding album.
A vast number of gifted instrumentalists accompany Jobim in the different tracks, we may single amongst them multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal and trombonist Urbie Green.

Each musical piece in this CD is a great example of soft fusion between Jazz & Bossa Nova, most remarkable, IMHO, are "Tide", "Carinhoso" and the rock-samba "Rockanalia".

This CD is especially commendable for a romantic "suave" evening or when you want to relax undisturbed. Enjoy!

Bossa Nova
. I enjoy Bossa Nova, beautiful music I have enjoyed all the cd's, I have purchased.

The Tide has come in!
Jobim was truly ahead of his time - he was a genius, like Mozart. Even though the music on this CD was recorded in 1967, it still "works" in this present time. The music on this CD ranges from the most beautiful and lyrical song you can hear ("Sue Ann")to a totally groovin' and movin" song ("Remember"- totally addicting- you will play it over and over)to the most rocking and rolling cuts (4 versions, 4 cuts,of "Tema Jazz")you can imagine Jobim could compose! What a variety! You can play this as background music to any activity you are engaged in ( I play it while I work - it is very energizing!)and also play it in your computer - great music to keyboard by! Definitely worth buying - I got two - one for my husband, who is working away from home, and one for myself. You will not regret this purchase.

Everlasting
It can be also a background on any activities - you will feel comfortable and relaxed. Jobim's music is very elegant and classy. "Tide" is my favourite instrumental album. .

A great album, will be one of your favorites.
A true classic and definitely one of my favorites. This is a great album for fans of bossa nova, fans of Jobim, or music that puts you in a good mood and relaxes you. It's also a great introduction to light Brazilian jazz.
