George Tells Us Like It Is
. As the old saying goes country is George Jones and so is this 1999 release,The Cold Hard Truth,from a man who has made alot of choices in his life as we all have to do one time or another,as George does picking and choosing these songs that he sings with authority just like the good ol' days where country was really country with grinding steel guitar,tune it up fiddle and that distinctive Jones voice that never lost a step through the years,and maybe even sounding better like a fine wine aging with time,these recordings reveal a man on the top of his game traveling down a long winding path of life,who has lived,loved,and still present is the possum George Jones,an essential recording.


Good, Old Fashioned Country
This album is an example of why. George Jones is rightfully regarded as one of the best of the genre. His singing voice conveys rural America without actually pulling up a specific locale. It may seem harsh but it fits with the lyrics and the tone of the music.

These selections might be called Honkytonk by some but they deal with life's little victories and problems. Even when the song is a bit sad, there is something strengthening about them. He tells a story with verse and tone and does so well.

This is not the modern country music that tries to be pop. It is the old stuff, a fine vintage.

No other country artist can handle a lyric as well. With this album, George only proves how he improves with age.


The Cold Hard Truth

I believe that this is George Jones last CD and if it's as good as all the rest of his CDs than it's got to be a great CD. I had bought this CD for my sister inlaw so i don't know much about this CD i have heard songs from it and it's a good CD.


very good album with a few outstanding songs
He is the greatest country singer of all time period. There is a reason why the name George Jones is one spoken with reverence respect devotion and hell plain love. When he sings songs like Choices and Cold hard truth, He makes you feel strong emotions whether you want to or not. Much like the late great Hank Williams did you dont have a choice you will feel something. solid album with some great songs buy it. enjoy.
