George Jones is Classic Country And It Is Real As exemplified in this extraordinary and absolutely classic country CD by George Jones, an original, this is the only country music I listen to. George Jones has just now spoken to the media and made some critical remarks about the new age and youthful soft country and tween based artists who for one reason or another, George is calling fans to come back to the classic artists. The set of country artists who are considered classic along with George Jones are performers like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, Willy Nelson, Crystal Gayle, Kenny Rogers and so it goes. All of these country artists have lived a life and that feature transcends into their music as a true country fan wants it to. Let's add Jimmy Buffet and George Strait to the list. We as fans want a syrupy voices from small southern localities. Throw in some drinking and divorces and truck driving and that is the real country, just as George Jones as seen a slice of the underside. As a music critic, I cannot confirm or deny George;s argument today when he addressed the media. I will say that for me and long before George went public to endorse artists like the gentle Giant, Don Williams who I think sang one of the best country songs ever recorded,Good Old Boys Like Me. I have travelled the Deep South a few times in my life and truthfully there have been artists who were great in the country genre like Eddie Rabbit who actually was from Brooklyn. Personally, only as an unrestrictive personal preference, I like my country artists to be Dixie bred. At, any rate, be assured that no matter which segment of the music industry you are attracted to, this George Jones compilation will create total enjoyment for you. You will recognize George as a country establishment who has lived it and can sing it with credible authority.

Five Stars Are NOT Enough
And, as this collection proves, he has been recording great music for more than fifty years. George Jones is one of the greatest country singers of all time. These songs include some of the best known "hits", as well as some terrific songs that didn't get much radio play. The sound quality is very impressive, with the songs from the 1960's having sound quality that closely matches today's recordings.
The other thing this collection does is to make clear that George Jones is one of the rare musicians who got better as he got older. Both his voice and his song writing got stronger as he got older.
This collection is a bargain. It brings together songs from several prior "greatest hits" albums, as well as some songs that are very difficult to find. An astounding amount of great music at a very low price.
George Jones 50 years of hits...outstanding
George Jones fifty years of hits is one of the best cds I own. I have always loved country music, especially classic country and the older singers. It is so relaxing and at the same time invigorating. Love it.
Wonderful
It was everything and more than we expected. We couldn't be happier. The music is excellent and the sound is so clear. Allyson .
