Silky and Sultry What a pleasure for the ears!
"Come Away With Me" stays with you from the moment you first hear it. Norah Jones has the smoothest voice in the world.
A must-have CD! .
The Smoothest, Most Relaxing Folk Jazz You'll Ever Hear
Norah Jones is extremely talented and strikes the perfect balance between jazz, folk and acoustic pop. I LOVE this album. This particular album is mostly jazz, so those of you who enjoy the smooth and relaxing side of things will be on cloud nine. Also be sure to pick up any of Chris Botti's or Melody Gardot's stuff. .
Soothing and Sweet
Also the Lyrics written for the music are far beyond her young tender years of experience walking top side on the face of this earth . The title of my review says it all, and represents the quality of music on this CD. . Therefore hats off for ALL of the musicians that made this music possible.

easy stuff
One magnificent sitar player and one country and western type. Norah Jones is the daughter of Pandit Ravi Shankar and was raised in Texas. It shows. She's a pianist and there's nothing pretentious here -- her piano backed up by a guitar and a rather routine rhythm section. Her voice is a little breathless and uncaring about being spot on the note. She's a vernacular singer. The range is easy and the tempo moderate and relaxes. Easy to listen to. I don't mean that it's a poor performance in any way. God knows that it's light years ahead of the seven-layered tracks of most pop singers. And the arrangements are sometimes exquisite. You may have heard Hank Williams sing "Your Cold Cold Heart" a thousand times but you've never heard it done like this.
It's hard to classify the album. "Easy Listening" might do it, but it's got jazz and country-and-western overtones. The easiest listening, if you want to think it in those terms, is the last track. It's easy listening alright, but Willy Nelson would have tackled it with impunity.
Summary? Not bad. What happened to Norah Jones anyway?.
Grows on you
I knew nothing about her except she had a kind face and was easy on the eyes. I remember watching the Grammy's one year and being angered at the singer who called herself Norah Jones. I also knew that she won almost every award that night. Beating out my personal favorite Bruce Springsteen. After the initial dislike wore off, I broke down and bought her c. d. I mean how bad could she be? After listening to it for the first time, I said "o. k, nothing special. " Then that 'Come Away with Me' song kept getting stuck in my head and I listened to it more often. Before I knew it I was addicted. Her voice is so beguiling. Being so simple, yet packing with it joy, sorrow, heart ache, and a deep deep passion. Some may say it puts people to sleep. I disagree. Its rich and powerful, and the c. d is deserving of the awards it has. So if at first you don't like Norah Jones, let her grow on you and maybe you'll end up liking her!.
