Wow!!! As a matter of fact everybody Shines on this record, it is the closest thing to perfection ever produced by a rock band, from the songwriting, to the production, sound quality. The greatest Rock Record Ever Made!!!! Steve Augeri definitely shines on his first record with Journey. Everything just came together here.
The Experimental/New Direction Album
It features some new things that work like "We Will Meet Again" and "Signs of Life" some old stuff that works like "With Your Love" and "Higher Place" and new stuff that doesn't fit the band like "Live and Breathe" and "Nothin' Comes Close". Arrival to me is like any band's crossroad Album. Personally this is Journey's Worst album as a whole but I managed to find some songs I liked such as "We Will Meet Again", "With Your Love", and "Higher Place". The Arrival eventually lead to the better sounding Generations which was great and eventually led to Revelation, which to me, is the best Journey Album from this decade. Overall if you're a fan, you might wanna check it out, but if you're just a casual fan, steer clear of this.
One of Journey's Most Underrated Albums
I knew Steve Perry was gone, but I was curious as to see if the band could keep it together with this cd. I like many was very skeptical when first purchasing this cd. Well they did and they came through big time. This album should have been much bigger than it was. There are at least four songs that had potential to make it on billboard's hot 100 chart. The album itself keeps the signature Journey sound. Some songs that stand out on the album include:
Higher Place
All the Way
Signs of Life
With your Love.
A great "non-Steve Perry" Journey CD
However, after having an open mind and listening to "Arrival", I consider it not Journey's best, but certainly a very good, well-written and well-produced CD. As a long time fan of Journey, it is difficult to consider any releases from Journey which does not include Steve Perry. .
"Arrival" Is One of Journey's Best
It is by far the best album that Steve Augeri did when he was the lead singer for Journey. This is one of the best Journey Albums. Their best lead singers (Steve Perry, Steve Augeri & Arnel Pineda) all have their own unique style. My two favorite songs on this album are Higher Place and To Be Alive Again. Both songs have an incredible sound, which is what you would expect when you listen to any of Journey albums. Steve, Neal, Jon, Ross & Deen are second to none. If you love Journey, like I do, you will certainly want to purchase this album. It ranks right up there with my personal favorites which are the Live Escape Album & their newest one, Revelation. I would also recommend purchasing their dvd from the Arrival tour in 2001. They have a song on it entitled Fillmore Boogie which I really wish was on a cd. It is one of the most enjoyable instrumental songs I've ever heard. You can tell that they all had a lot of fun playing this song too. .
