Customer Review Kalaka - a national institute The band started with strong folk music roots and quickly developed a distinct style. Kalaka has been a brand in the nearly 35 years since its formation. They are masters of sung poetry, finding the perfect mood, instrumentation and rythm for poems. They sing in Hungarian, mostly based on Hungarian poetry, but their Villon and Yesenin albums are good examples of their open mind and good taste. Without exception, the band members are virtuso players of a multitude of instruments. Kalaka was recently awarded the Kossuth Prize (highest state award for artists in Hungary).
