Customer Reviews
Now I have heard it...
But it is for a Macross Plus Fan, who will enjoy it and feel the upwelling of emotion caused by the movie in every string of music. This is a good CD. However, your average listener, who knows not the world of Macross, may not understand the deep appeal we fans see in this. Many of the tracks will be wasted on you because they are just plain weird or boring. The seemingly lackadistical mix of symphony and techno will have you scratching your heads. Some of you may even feel jyped because there are about 6 "good" songs on the CD and that is it. We, the fans know otherwise but until you join our exclusive group. . . This may not be the CD you are looking for.

Amazingly Diverse...Instantly Refreshing
Every track on this album represents something different; there is absolutely nothing "generic" about any of the songs that appear here. As a Robotech fan who has since become interested in Macross, I've never been more intrigued or satisfied with a purchase such as this one.

My favorites are:

1) Idol Talk: I love this song. It's the one played during the preparations for Sharon Apple's concert. It sounds like the sonic embodiment of 'electronic decadence'. This song is great! Very late 80s though. . .

2) Jade: Very playful - it actually sounds like a Prince instrumental jam at Paisley Park. It has whistling, lively drums, and a great guitar.

3) Nomad Soul: This is a frantic saxophone solo. Love it.

5) Go Ri A Te: Excellent. This is a percussive piece that mixes acoustic drums (from a variety of cultures) with synthezized instruments. Incredible - one of my favorites.

7) Pulse: Ohmigawd. This song is trance-like (with a pretty female voice singing), and if you like anything by Deep Forest, you will love this. Very ambient. Probably the best song on the whole album.

8) 3cm: A very mellow saxophone-lead jazz song. It's great to calm down to this track - will cure any 'road rage' you might feel when you're driving down a busy strecth - guaranteed. of freeway

9) Voices: This is the piano/vocal version of the Macross Plus theme song. Beautiful. . .

10) Pu Qua O: This is a mellow jazz piece - the piano takes the forefrunt here.

11) Sweet Feather: Love this song. . . it's the one played when Myung falls asleep and Guld ends up saving her. Very suspenseful, love the xylophone!

12) A Sai En: This is by far the creepiest anime song I have ever heard; it makes my skin crawl. This was the song played when Sharon Apple "possessed" the Macross.

13) Bad Dog: This piece is VERY interesting. It's a bunch of guys making percussive noises with their voices, and screaming and making all kinds of weird sounds, but it works. I like this one a lot.

Lastly, you don't need to be an anime or Macross fan to enjoy this soundtrack. All you need is an open ear, and a love for music in all of its forms. This album is simply fantastic. Go get it!

Knyte.

I Was Surprised How Good It Is!
Well, I'm glad I did because the music is surprisingly good. I picked this up in the used CD section of a local store because I liked the cover art (I have never even seen the movie!). It has a wide mixture of styles all mixed with a Japanese flair, and the woman's voice on several of the tracks is very beautiful. My faves are Pulse, Go Ri A Te, Voices, A Sai En and Sweet Feather.
