Customer Reviews (4.5 stars) PROGRESSIVE ROCK THAT ROCKS ! (Point Of No Return is a Kansas classic) The classical-rocking title track, the acoustic Zen anthem Dust In The Wind, and the Albert Einstein tribute Portrait (He Knew) were the hits, but everything here is good. Point Of No Return (1977) was Kansas' follow-up to their hugely sucessful Leftoverature album, and it's just as good, if not better, than it's predecessor. Sparks Of The Tempest, Nobody's Home, and Hopelessly Human are also highlights. Kansas' sound is progressive like Yes and Genesis, but they lean more towards an American rock style with plenty of guitar riffs and passionate guitar solos. They also like to make use of classical arrangements and instruments like the violin and cello. The themes and subject matter of the songs are mostly intellectual and philosophical. Sparks Of The Tempest chronicles a history of violent quests for power and abuse of power won. Soothsayer saying now tell me no lies What is this madness that is filling the skies Spreading like wildfire, falling like rain Though they may promise, they bring only pain Nobodys Home is a space traveler's lament upon discovering a deserted planet after the apocalypse is realized. No monument was carved in stone in memory of the dead For those who made this place do not remain, they feel no pain A stranger fate was never known Which sort of ties in with the impassive philosophical theme of Dust In The Wind. Now, don't hang on Nothing last forever But the earth and sky It slips away And all your money Won't another minute buy Dust in the wind All we are is dust in the wind Point Of No Return is an album that you that you definately won't regret adding to your music collection. Progressive rock that rocks, and captivating lyrics that fascinate. .
