Customer Reviews
Another pretty much worthless compilation!
Why go out and buy this when the albums that these tracks come from are so good. Has anyone noticed lately that Kansas is totally going mad with every sort of compilation? Maybe they're trying to cash in, but I don't think too many people are going out to purchase these kind of compilations. Just go out and buy LEFTOVERTURE, MASQUE, MONILITH, KANSAS, and POINT OF KNOW RETURN (POKR should have gotten at least four tracks because it's the greatest album that they've ever made, but instead they give it one lousy track). Just go out and buy the whole albums that these tracks come from. Believe me they are ultra superb albums and some of these tracks from them are the wrong ones to include. "It Takes A Woman's Love" shouldn't have been included because it's not classic Kansas to me. Just get out to the stores and buy the great albums that these tracks came from and you'll thank me, I promise.

A good place to start
It covers some of the highlight songs from the Steve Walsh years of the band, with one track from 'Kansas,' three tracks from 'Masque,' three tracks from 'Leftoverture,' one track from 'The Point Of Know Return,' and two tracks from the more pop-influenced 'Monolith. As the other reviewer mentioned below, this is a pretty good place to begin if you're interested in the music of Kansas. '

Considering the price (I picked this up at Wal-Mart for six bucks), there's really not much to gripe about regarding this compilation. The song selection is actually good, with the most glaring omissions being "The Point Of Know Return" and "Song For America. " As for the sound quality, I compared the 1999 'Best Of' (supposedly remastered) cd to this, and 'On The Other Side' sounded much brighter, clearer, and louder.

A few complaints aside, I think this would be a good buy for someone only mildly curious about Kansas. Otherwise, just go ahead and purchase the recently remastered versions of the first five albums (all of which are exceptional).

Another Budget Compilation of Classic KANSAS Material
It has ten tracks:

1. I was researching Kansas music the other day and found this listing with No track information or anything! So I looked for it at the local store and found a copy. Carry on Your Wayward Son
2. What's On My Mind
3. The Wall
4. Dust In The Wind
5. Can I Tell You
6. People of the South Wind
7. It Take's a Woman's Love
(to make a man)
8. Child of Innocence
9. Two Cents Worth
10. On the Other Side

It is (can you believe it!) another version of a former release: "Carry On", from 1992, Sony Special Products. I have no idea if the sound quality has been improved, even though from 1992 to 2005 there should be a significant difference, but. . . maybe not. It is priced right: Only $8 dollars.

If somone did not own ANY Kansas music, this could be a decent start. Especially for a kid trying to stretch his allowance money.
