Customer Review Finest version of the Beethoven Concerto Others, like Heifetz, may have been greater virtuosos, but none surpassed Grumiaux in sheer musicianship. Arthur Grumiaux was the most musical and elegant of violinists. Of his 3 recordings of the Beethoven Concerto, my favourite is the 1967 version with Alceo Galliera conducting, a warmer more beautiful recording of this music does not exist, though the 1976 recording with Colin Davis is almost as good. If you have never heard these recordings, I urge you to try them.
