Customer Reviews
Straight up rock and roll
I mean sure, he had a couple of hits with The Breakup Song and Jeopardy. Greg Kihn never really hit the big time. It was enough to at least get his name out there, but it never went beyond that. A two-hit wonder I suppose. The fact is, though, that Greg Kihn put out a lot of material over many years and it's a shame he hasn't been recognized for his ability to whip out great hooks.

I'm not sure who would be insane enough to spend $90 on an out of print Greg Kihn CD. I bought this on vinyl a couple weeks ago for $3, and it sounds great.

There are no bad tracks on this album. Everybody knows The Breakup Song, of course. Do yourself a favor and check out Valerie, Trouble in Paradise, and Sheila.

When you look back and compare, there are a lot of similarities between Kihn's sound and that of Tom Petty. It hardly seems fair that Petty shot to super-startdom while Greg Kihn faded away into obscurity. Petty had a much more refined, slick sound, so I suppose that's what appealed to the masses. Personally, I'll take the raw, garage-band sound of Greg Kihn any day.

rockihn roll is knackish
A man who has been around since the seventies made a rocking album. I remember the summer of 81 and the radio played smmoth songs to get you through those dog days. Every song is good from Valerie straight down to When the music starts. Although he sounded a little rough around the UH'S during the Breakup Song this is still nice to play as a remember when time. Although very commercial its great to play at parties or if you want to recapture those feelings of yesterday when you got the most out of your money buying CD'S. When an album has hits all the way through you don't feel like you were being ripped off. Now I know why people download songs, make a good album so we won't have to do it.
