glam meets grit Fun and fantastic!. can anything be gritty and glam rock? This album sure can! What a great combination, what a great concept and a great sound.
The most reat album from The Killers
This album consolidates the band's career and also defines the visual identity of the members who come to the concerts of the tour in a Mexican style. Contrary to what the critics say, Sam's Town is the best album released by The Killers.
Highlight the songs "Read My Mind," "When you were young" and "Sam's Town".
Experimentation Leads to Mixed Results
On the positive side, lead single "When You Were Young" manages to sound fresh and ranks aside some of the best from Hot Fuss. The Killers faced the same problem many bands do after releasing a successful debut: Should they stick to the same formula or explore new territory? They chose the latter, and the results are mixed. Other highlights like "The River is Wild" and "Bones" are intriguing and well-crafted, but even they seem like diversions, weak compared to past glories. The best song is "Read My Mind," which, unsurprisingly, is as close to Hot Fuss as Sam's Town gets. The majority of the album attempts to copy rock classics like Born to Run and The Joshua Tree; The Killers were brave to experiment, but they weren't ready to take on such a daunting task. Compared to the debut, this is a disappointment. 3 Stars.
This album sucks!!!!!
While he was at work, I listened to it, and When you were young was the only song I liked on the disc!! I wouldn't waste money on this cd but thats just me. My brother bought this album because he liked the song "When You Were Young" and wanted to see what else the killer's had to offer. See for yourself by listening to sample's.
Also listen to...
If you like their sound, I also recommend listening to a similar band called Jupiter One. Hey folks! These guys are great! I've been listening since their first single. They have little bit of a different feel, but are totally in the same vein.
Here's a link to their newest album!
