a where the hell is it. Its been over a month and I still have not got my cd. If you live overseas military do not order from this person.
Great
This album is nothing short of greatness. Since a lot of Killswitch fans around are ones that just got into them when The End of Heartache was released, this review will come from someone who has been with them since the Jesse Leach days. The bonus tracks are absolutely excellent and I can see why it's so hard for these guys pick and choose tracks that make the cut and don't make the cut. Luckily, they release all of them on this Special Edition. "This Fire" is clearly one of their best songs they're written and a new fan favorite. "Holy Diver" is an impressive cover and I'll admit I didn't think they'd be able to pull that one off. "This is Absolution" has that "When Darkness Falls" feel to it while "The Arms Of Sorrow" has that "The End Of Heartache" feel to it. "Eye Of The Storm" is a blistering track from start to finish. This album is chalk full of goodies and will leave the listeners' ears bleeding when the disc is done spinning.
Bought this to hold me over to the new Skinlab Live CD
Killswitch is one of my favorites. . . I like End of Heartache more, but this one is still excellent. . . . I bought it while waiting on the new Skinlab live cd, SkinnedAlive to come out. . . so I'll see if this one grows on me.
Killswitch shows the rest how it's done...
I have been a Killswitch fan since the first time I heard "The End Of Heartche" on the radio. . it gave me chills. I'm an old-school metal chick who grew up on bands like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest, Queensryche and, yes, Def Leppard but I had lost my faith and passion for the music. Killswitch Engage brought it back. . . THANKS GUYS!!! :-) I own all their CDs and their DVD and through them discovered a whole new generation of bands like Shadows Fall, Lamb Of God, Unearth, Chimaria, All That Remains, Underoath, Trivium, As I Lay Dying, Stone Sour and even Slipknot, all of whom are now favorites as well.
I brought a copy of this Special Edition CD mostly to get Killswitch's cover version of "Holy Diver" by Dio. It is truly a rare feat when a band can cover another band's song and remain true to the style and integrity of the original while still making it their own. Killswitch Engage pulls it off with ease. The CD contains three other songs not included on the original version of "Daylight Dies;" "Let The Bridges Burn" and "Be One" are strong enough to have been included on the original album--"Bridges Burn" has the sort of dynamics that could make it an opening track--but "This Fire Burns," written for a WWE pay-per-view special, sounds like the band mailed it in and could have been left off.
This package features a DVD with all three videos from "Daylight Dies": "My Curse," "The Arms of Sorrow" and "Holy Diver. " It also includes "making of" documentaries for "Curse" and "Sorrow" but not for "Holy Diver," which is too bad, because that video is by far the best of the three. It's a very funny throwback to the elaborate mini-movies that music videos used to be, and it's worth seeing just for the sight of Adam D in drag. ;-)
All in all, the "Daylight Dies" special edition is a great package for both new and old Killswitch fans alike; my only complaint is why do record labels put out a CD and then come out with "Special Editions" much later? Maybe if more new releases were packaged with special features in the first place, CD sales wouldn't be in the massive slump they are now, even with the digital revolution. .
"As Daylight Dies" is the best album by Killswitch Engage
"As Daylight Dies" is a must buy CD combining the genres of death metal with thrash and everything in between to create a metal subgenre known as Metalcore. KILLSWITCH ENGAGE is an awesome band and I just recently got into them and bought this album, and I'm not complaining. With every track produced with excellent quality, they make this album nearly a greatest hits compilation. It's best songs include "The Arms of Sorrow", "Unbroken", "My Curse", "For You", "Still Beats Your Name", "Breaks the Silence", and "Reject Youself".
Also, What makes the enhanced version even better than the original is that it comes with a 2nd disc that has a few videos, including the "My Curse" video, and 4 extra songs, which are all excellent, and extremely thrashy and loud. PURE METAL.
Buy this if you like Metalcore and more specifically Killswitch Engage.
