a great live cd
i personally would have rathered a live dvd but ill take what i can get. its hard to find a great live cd anymore. though not the best song selection in his history teh tight playing and decent sound of this make it worth while.

worthy addition if your too silly to already own this?!
wow, does King know how to "play" an audience or what, this has everything a live album needs, audience getting into it, full-on live feeling, superb musicianship, basically close your eyes and you are there!! This double cd set neglects Spiders Lullabye, Graveyard, Voodoo, & House Of GOD, but I believe that is because King keeps on album concepts as opposed to just a "best of" that most bands do live. . next question can King hit "those" notes in a live environment, the answer is a resounding "YES" all these tracks are just as good live as they are on the albums that they originated on. . . with keeping in on the album concepts King includes lots of the "intro" style songs here ("Funeral", "Spare This Life", "Sorry Dear" etc) which are obvously "live mixes" ie: on tape as opposed to played/vocalised by the band, but this is a great representation of KD live. . . basically, do yourself a favor and buy NOW!!!! .

"You can still hear her screaming..."
Recorded in various cities around the US in 2004, King and the band cover songs from Abigail, Abigail II, The Pupper Master and many other King Diamond favorites, such as two songs from "The Eye". "Deadly Lullabyes" is the ulitmate "Live" recording of the legendary horror/metal act, King Diamond. King sounds unbelivable. Hitting all the high octaves with total control. Livia Zita, who appeared on The Puppet Master, backs King's vocals up perfectly in selected songs. Andy LaRocque and Mike Wead compliment themselves beautifully on guitars. Hal Patino's bass playing is more than just a mere back-up. And Matt Thompson on drums does more than just an admirable job. His aping of Mikkey's style on the "Abigail" songs is quite impressive. He's the best drummer the band has had since. . . Mikkey Dee!

Having seen the band recently on a follow-up tour, the recording is near identicle to the live performance. This more than just an obligatory "Live" or "best of" collection. Any fan of the King that has not had the pleasure of seeing or hearing this band live, should purchase this CD immediately.

They ARE that good!
As for the Mercyful Fate songs. I saw King Diamond on this tour and once since then and I can verify that both times King and his band have sounded as good as this live cd indicates. . . he only played two of them at the end of the last show> Hail to the King!!! Five Stars.

Sounds like a studio album with crowd noise
Not only does it sound way too polished, there's also all these overdubs on the vocals. The problem with this album is not that it sounds bad, it just somehow ended up with a production nearly identical to Puppet Master's. There's really no reason to listen to it if you own the albums. In Concert Abigail is a much more relevant live disc.
