Awesome Total Package!!!! From the vocals, to the guitarwork, to the artwork. I have to say that this album is a total package.
This is a truly great Metal album in a time when great metal albums are few and far in between.
Very melodic. . . . very catchy. I now find myself humming the choruses. I have been a metal fan since the early 80's. I have seen metal bands come and go. I have witnessed what I call the "stagnation period" in the late 80's early 90's. And I have also witnessed the RE- emergence of metal. And I have to say, King Diamond has survived it all.
His name says it all: "King Diamond".
A diamond is a symbol to me of endurance.
Because it took a lot of time, pressure, and endurance to transform into a diamond.
And in the world of metal. . . . The end result is. . . "KING DIAMOND".
where does King Diamond come up with his stories?
on this release, he becomes the victim of the little girl. King Diamond still retains the ability to raise up goose bumps with his stories. I cannot believe that he has been with Metal Blade for 14 plus years. what is your next story about King? enquiring minds want to know. keep it metal!.
This cd just flat out smokes!
Period. Wow, what a disc King and crew have put together! This is some of the finest metal you'll ever hear out there. As always, the production is first rate, as is the musicianship. And the composition and execution of the story is tight ,taut and interesting. As a long time KD and MF fan ,I can say that this stacks up with all his best work like Abigail. Yeah, I still miss Mikkey Dee, but Matt Thompson just kills it on this cd. [And Motorhead might have needed Mikkey more than King anyway. . . ]
What can I say about the guitar work, these guys are consummate musicians. The phrasing, lyricism and balls of the solos is top notch. Checkout Mike Wead's solo on the title track, I haven't heard a solo phrased that well since Adrian Smith's finest work with Iron Maiden. And they have the chops to make it sound easy. Very musical too, no shredding for shred's sake at all, the sign of mature craftsmen. Hat's off to Andy,King ,Hal Mike, and Matt. Keep doing it fellas, we love it!.
good but not his best.
Sorry I love King diamond except when he gets too Satanic, which he does not on this album. This is a good King Diamond album, but it's not his best like he said. However I must say like it is! This is the only time I've been critical of King. The first song on "give me your soul please", a cool name for an album, rips off badly the riff from Judas Priest's Painkiller song, that's not good. Listen to it yourself it's the same riff only slightly slower. I also heard on either the Puppet Master or another recent album a riff was ripped, just one riff on each album. This is way not like the King who always been an original incredible writer. Where is Michael Denner when you need him! It's not that Mike Weed is not a great player it's just Denner or even Sherman had way more influence on the writing and sound of the albums they contributed to! Andy and Mike play great on this very good yet scarred album. In my opinion The King just could some help or influence from his old friends from Fate days, even on his solo work. I mean in the music direction mainly. The songs have great lyrics but lack in the quality exibited by King in the past. Cool Female vocals though that's a nice touch! The guitars frame the song more than drive it like in the past, where's the riffs and more leads! This is a King Diamond Album not classical. I prefer faster stuff from the heavy artists and detest what Metallica did to trash metal in the 90's. However, its' another very good if slightly flawed effort from the awesome King.
Great Cd!!!
My favorite King Diamond albums have always been Abigail, Them and Conspiracy, and I think Give me you Soul, Please is right up there with those, great cd!!!.
