More Compilations
But like some others, I get a little tired of all the best of, or compilations. First off, I am a HUGE KISS fan, I absolutely love them! I have every cd, dvd, EVERYTHING they put out. What is the purpose of reissuing the same classics over and over? Finally we have the new SONIC BOOM coming out. Regardless I have and will continue to uy everything they put out, simply because I LOVE KISS. Oh and ACE PLEASE COME BACK!.


Some great songs - but many better songs excluded...
If the price is under $10 it is a good value. Overall it is a good collection, but I was surprised by some of the songs chosen.


Not heavy Metal
Upon listening to this compilation it is clear that KISS are not a hair metal band, This is all classic rock in the simplest form very basic guitar chords/riffs BUT so effective and the bass line in a number of the songs really sets these APART FROM POISON ETC.


The Best "Greatest Kiss"
By my count, there are 4 (5. Greatest Kiss was released in several different versions. . . if you include the British Polygram "Greatest Hits" CD) different track listings. If this is a KISS CD that you would like to own, and if you only want 1 version of it, shell out the extra cash, and go with the Japanese version. I give this one the highest marks of the "Greatest Kiss" CDs for weighing in at 20 tracks and including the original, studio version of "Rock Bottom. " "Rock Bottom" is the best song that Ace Frehley ever wrote, it contains some of his best guitar work, and it is one of the band's most underrated songs. Also, while most of the KISS "Best-Of" sets (there are a TON of them out there!) do not contain the song lyrics in their booklets, this one does. . . in both English and Japanese. In short, if you want 1 single KISS CD, this is the one to go with. If you're a fan of KISS or Classic Hard Rock, or if you're discovering either for the first time, pick this disc up. You won't be disappointed.


If we REALLY must have another Greatest Hits CD....
GREATEST KISS is, as some have pointed out, a good way to go if you are still only a Private in the KISS Army, and just want a compilation CD of some of their best work to add to your rock collection, but to diehards like us, as Ace used to say in that NY accent of his, "Fuggetaboudit!" Once the new fans have tasted the great old KISS songs, why not hit them with a Greatest Hits CD that includes: Lick it Up, Heaven's on Fire, Tears are Falling, Crazy, Crazy Nights, Anyway You Slice It (LOVE that tune!), Bang Bang You, Let's Put the X in Sex, Rise To It, Hide your Heart, Forever, Unholy, Take it Off, God Gave Rock and Roll to You II, Domino, I Just Wanna, and maybe even Fits Like a Glove. If KISS is going to continue cranking out greatest hits CDs (even if not ALL the songs are hits!), then I think their next one should be their greatest hits of the more recent material. Now THAT is a greatest hits album! All the best songs of the post-Ace/Peter days. I have most of those songs on either cassette or CD, and would certainly buy THAT one! Unfortunately, greatest hits albums only contain a few of their REAL greatest hits, so this one will never be made. Some of the best songs are still only available on the studio albums so that fans will still buy those CDs as well. Oh well. Money talks.
