Drop the coin right into the slot
Bruce Kulick, yes, talented man. You gotta hear something that really rocks. It's Paul the Paul era. Made for lovin' you. Who wants to be lonely, tears are falling. The MTV outfits are scarier than the greasepaint. But it's good pop. Good sex. I've got a good Memory. Calling Dr. Love. It's got what it takes. If you want it up crazy. I do. .

not the best cover
it's ashame they just completely forget the 80's catalogue touring nowadays. no never liked the cover, but all 10 songs rock.

Asylum was and still is a major let down
First thing I thought upon looking at the horrible artwork was 'God, I hope the music will speak for itself'. I remember 1985. Well, needless to say, it turned out to be only the wishful thinking of a 16-year-old fan. I had thoroughly enjoyed Animalize, Lick It Up, Creatures Of The Night and Music From The Elder but something was definitely wrong this time! The music didn't sound convincing as the band got sadly immersed - and then lost - in the 80's unbelievable mindless acts. This wasn't the Kiss I liked and I was right. And what's funny, being the huge fan I am, I've been secretly trying to make myself enjoy Asylum for 24 years now. . . and counting!.

Back to the roots....???
I remember when KISS was in the Studio recording Asylum. . The said this album was getting back to their roots. . . . Now over 20 years later , nothing was more wrong. This is no way going back to old Kiss stuff. Has to be one of the worst Kiss efforts ever. Only Smashes is worse.

Definately NOT one of Kiss' best... 2.5
Very glossy pop with some lame lyrics. THIS was a HUGE disappointment after the excellent 'Animalize'. Especially on 'Secretly Cruel' and 'Any Way You Slice It'. "It was a HOT DAY, she wore LINGERIE and nothing else in between", or the extremely brilliant "Let me be your king BEE, I want your hornets nest?!". Please. . . Just pretty lame Gene songs that didnt make for good listening in 1985 and still dont.

Not to say there arent some keepers. 'Who wants To Be Lonely' and 'Tears are Falling' were great Stanley penned pop/rock tracks with good hooks. 'Radar For Love' has a decent riff and tolerable chorus even though the title and lyrics are tacky.
'Loves a Deadly Weapon' is Genes best contribution and is the heaviest track. Good song. And 'Uh, All Night' is decent, even though its cheesy.

This CD isnt a total disaster like 'Unmasked' or 'Crazy Nights', but to be honest, Animalize was much much better.
