One of the best ever I'm sure Jennifer Arrayo (Sp?) helped as she's an accomplished heavy metal bassist. Kittie surprisingly pulled off a great album here considering the loss of half their band. This album is pretty much a continuation of their best recording, Oracle. Some tracks such as Career Suicide and Until the End do a terrific job of showcasing Morgan's skills as a singer and song-writer. The production of the alum was also well done. Interesting how they included two recordings of Into the Darkness. Had I been the producer, I would have found a happy medium between the two. I think this song could have used a happy balance of guttural screaming and melodic singing, not an all or nothing approach. More along the lines of the song What I Always Wanted.
Kittie - Until the End
That's a gimmick. Initially I believe Kittie was set up as a gimmick band, an all female group, very young, playing metal music. But they actually have talent and excel beyond the expectations of the gimmick moniker. I feel Kittie has grown with each album and have only increased their skill of musical composition. I really liked this CD, this is probably my favorite by them to date, on every album they just seem to get better. While this album is not perfect, I think it really showcases how much they've grown and I really look forward to more Kittie because I think it will keep getting even better as time goes on.
A step in the right direction for Kitte
I found it hard to take Morgan's screaming seriously at times during the CD. I have to say this is probably the best Kittie CD I've heard, but let's start with my complaints first. She came across as almost comical with some of her screams and to me seemed to lack the power of an Otep or Arch Enemy's vocalist. That being said, it was the only negative to me. I really enjoyed the overall musicianship Kittie brought to the table on this disc and what caught my ears the most was Mercedes' drumming. She has vastly improved since the "Spit" days. Of course they were teens when that disc came out and the maturity shows. The tracks that featured Morgan's singing voice and were layered with background screams were the one's that caught my attention. Overall Kittie is starting to truly establish themselves as a fine metal band.
Even more awful mallcore music...
Kittie make cr a p p y bands like Otep and Evanescence look like Arch Enemy or The Gathering for fu c k's sake! None of the band members can play their instruments properly, they just play simple riffs without soloing. Okay really, bands like Kittie make it seem like chicks can't do metal. The vocalist just screams like an as s. The lyrics are more whiney emo/metalcore cr a p about how they broke up with their boyfriends or how they want to slit their wrists. Kittie fans have dumb Myspaces with names like "Dark Princess" or "Bleeding Roses". Of course I'm going to get negative reviews because I'm not supporting this junk but instead of this, listen to real chick metal like Arch Enemy, The Gathering, or Nightwish.
Burn in hell Kittie!!!.
Kittie Rules
No one compares to them. Kittie is the best goth chick band out there. "Until the End" is much more calm than their first two albums. It is nice to hear goth music that is not all the same. They really give their listeners something different.
