Komplete Your Kollection!
There's very little on here that represents the best that KMFDM has to offer, but interestingly, i find i like the material much more than when it heard it 15 years ago. In an age where industrial music has become little more than a collection of solitary basement dwellers with an access virus and angst, this collection comes as a breath of fresh air. The homogeny in the current industrial environment make the eclectic sounds they use in this old stuff sound relevant.

There is a fair amount you may have heard twenty years ago, and the remastering makes that part of it sound crisp. The rest that you probably haven't heard make the collection worthwhile. There is plenty of unreleased material, vinyl-onlys, and b-sides to keep a fanboy like myself entertained.

The ultimate non-album compilation, Vol. 1
1 is truly the definitive KMFDM collection. EXTRA Vol. It spans all non-abum records of the 1986-1992 (up to Money) era which means En Esch (the guy, not the track), Split, long lost recordings, first-time CD masters for some songs, and all the original artwork for all singles. The WDYKD and DBYT! mixes featured here are even better than the album ones. All Split versions are also here (The Apart version being my personal favorite), along with a lengthier More & Faster and great Rip The System, Go to Hell, etc. mixes.

Disc 2 may sound a little repetitive with this "Money/Bargeld/Money/Bargeld. . . " thing, but not that much, specially considering that the original Money single was organized that way, and the different versions are really worthy the time you put on them, so this is not a real drawback. The sound quality is, for any practical purpose, the same as the KMFDM classics collection released in 2006-2007, so it fits perfectly with those records.

If you are an Ultra-Heavy Beat fan, this is a must have, unless, of course, you are rather into 24/7 (I'd be but I don't have a vinyl player anymore and I'm not buying those records just to frame them :)

Highly recommended. I'm looking forward to Volumes 2 and 3.
