Greate sound at a low price Knight), terrific arrangements and high quality remastering. This product blends a great singer (Ms. In fact, the songs are not equally lovely. But "Neither One of US" and "Once in my Life" alone make it worthy. .
Oh! What a sound!
These three tracks were produced by Joe Porter and primarily arranged by the most wonderful Artie Butler, with "Neither One Of Us" being a big hit in the early 70's. The chance to hear "Neither One of Us", "Oh! What A Love I Have Found" and "All I Need Is Time" on CD is worth the long wait for these tracks to come out (although "Neither One Of Us" has been available on CD). Yes, these tracks were not the typical "sound" usually associated with the group and it might have been a gamble on both Motown and producer Joe Porter's part. But working with songwriters Jim Weatherly and Bud Reneau paid off with music that takes the group in a different direction and give the magical voice of Ms. Knight a chance to shine in arrangements that truly capture her one of a kind sound. I wonder who suggested to the group to record this music? And, what was the reaction of the powers at Motown to these very special songs? Since "Neither One Of Us" came first, they probably tried to repeat that success with the two Bud Reneau songs. They also cover Sly and the Family Stone and work with Paul Riser, David Van DePitte and H. B. Barnum, all professional hitmakers at Motown. Oh! What a sound, indeed.
