one of the best soundtracks...ever
It brings back wonderful memories from childhood. I am thrilled to see this soundtrack again. My parents took us (me & 3 siblings) to see this movie. After that, trips 'down south' weren't complete until this played on the 8track player at least 6 times! My mother loved Gladys Knight, harold Melvin and the Blue Notes and Lou Rawls! I hope I've created musical memories of family for my own children, that when I'm gone, will remind them of me.


Ahhh, the good times
It reminds me of the closing scene in the movie where they finally get it together. "Make Yours A Happy Home" brings tears to my eyes almost everytime i hear it. Me being a step-dad, i felt Rupe's pain in that movie, so the soundtrack gives me a lift as well as bringing back memories of a simpler time in my life.

THIS ALBUM I DIDNT HAVE WHEN I WAS YOUNG BUT I WAS FAMILIAR WITH THE SONGS BECAUSE OF THE MOVIE JUST LIKE SPARKLE CURTIS MAYFIELD DOES IT LYRICALLY ITS LIKE WHEN YOU HEAR HER SINGS SHE PULLS THE SONG OUT OF THE PAPER MAKING YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT LIFE N LOVE AND ALSO SAD ABOUT
THIS IS THE SOUNDTRACK NOT ONLY TO THE MOVIE BUT TO MANY LIFES

Awesome music!
I loved all of the music from the movie and I just listen to it over and over again. The only thing better than the movie was the soundtrack. Curtis Mayfield was a musical genius, and Gladys Knight and the Pips were clearly at the top of their game. I love this CD.


Two "lost" albums finally surface.
The soundtrack for "Claudine", written and produced by the late, great Curtis Mayfield, was a tour-de-force for the group, as well as a modest cinematic hit for stars Dihann Carroll and James Earl Jones. When I was 15, Gladys Knight & the Pips were arguably the most popular group in the country. But the real treat here is the soundtrack for Gladys' acting debut, "Pipe Dreams", containing the # 12 R&B hit, and my personal favorite Gladys performance, "So Sad the Song". The movie was a bust, but the soundtrack is finally available again. It only took 31 years.
